This beautiful, 21-year-old woman was Eden Yerushalmi. She was kidnapped from the Nova Music Festival on Oct 7, 2023, by Hamas terrorists.
Eden spent close to 4 hours hiding from Hamas. She stayed in touch with her family. Her last text to them said, “They caught me.”
Eden survived 11 months in captivity. Hamas shot her at point blank range, along with five other hostages, on August 29, 2024. Israel was on the way to rescue them. Eden’s body was recovered and returned to Israel - weighing just 36 kilograms.

את פוסט ערב שבת אני מקדיש הפעם לגיבור ישראל אל”מ רועי לוי ז”ל, מפקד היחידה הרב ממדית.
רועי היה לוחם בכל רמ”ח איבריו.
הוא נפצע בעופרת יצוקה וחזר להילחם.
הוא נפצע אנושות בצוק איתן, נלחם על חייו, השתקם במשך שנתיים והתעקש לחזור לפיקוד על יחידות לוחמות.
ובשבעה באוקטובר, כשהמדינה קרסה, רועי לא נשאר מאחור.
הוא יצא בראש חייליו אל מול האש, אל התופת בקיבוץ רעים. הוא נלחם, פיקד, ובמהלך הקרב הציל עשרות מתושבי הקיבוץ.
גם כשנפצע בקרב (בפעם השלישית בחייו!) הוא המשיך להילחם בגבורה.
עד שכדור חדר לליבו, והוא נפל בקרב, בגיל 44, מותיר אחריו את אשתו יעל, את חמשת ילדיו, ואת הפקודים הרבים שהשפיע עליהם לאורך השנים.
בהלוויה של רועי ספדו לו בנותיו צוריה, זוהר ואביגיל:
“היית אמור לראות אותנו מתחתנות וללוות אותנו מתחת לחופות.
תמיד אמרת:
‘אני מוכן למות רק במלחמה’.
היית גיבור בשבילנו, נמשיך לחיות את הערכים שלך”.

בלילה בין שישי לשבת, בשעה שבה התפרץ בריון להיכל התפילה של בית הכנסת הרפורמי במנהטן, התפרצה חבורת צעירים בריונים לאולם התפילה של קהילת "כל הנשמה" בירושלים, אחת מהקהילות המוכרות והמובילות בעולם היהודי הליברלי.
באישון לילה הם ניפצו את הזכוכית, נכנסו אל תוך אולם התפילה, השחיתו תמונות ותלשו את דגל הגאווה, שהיה תלוי במבואה. זו לא הפעם הראשונה שהקהילה הזו סובלת מוונדליזם ומחבלה. הפעם הזו חבורת הצעירים לא הססה לפרוץ אל תוך האולם ולהשחית אותו. גם קהילות רפורמיות וקונסרבטיות אחרות בירושלים וברחבי הארץ סובלות ממתקפות כאלה על בסיס שבועי.
אני קורא לראש עיריית ירושלים להגיע לבית הכנסת לביקור של תמיכה והזדהות. זה הוא הצעד המתבקש ממנו. מהממשלה שאחת משרותיה טענה רק לאחרונה שבבתי הכנסת שלנו מחתנים כלבים אין לי ציפיות. זו ממשלה שמתמחה בהפצת שנאת חינם ובשלילת הלגיטימציה של הזרמים היהודים הליברלים.
לא אפרט, אבל אכתוב בבירור, שלמשטרה יש את הדרך להגיע אל חבורת החוליגנים הזו. אם לא יעשה כך בשעות הקרובות או בימים הקרובים, הרי שרוחו הרעה של שר השנאה וההסתה, שוב תנצח את הממלכתיות והמקצועיות שאמורות להדריך את מערכת אכיפת החוק.
דבר אחד אני יודע לומר בבירור - החוליגנים המוסתים האלה לא ירתיעו אותנו מלקדם יהדות ישראלית אוהבת אדם, חותרת צדק חברתי, סובלנות דתית, ריבוי פנים ושלום.

In Buddhism we understand that every action comes with a consequence. Due to my decision to stand up for my Jewish friends I am losing a few people from my life. Today I parted company with Tony Pontius who has run my record label BGP for a number of years. I wanted to release 'We Will Dance Again' but he was unequivocal and said 'I want nothing to do with this song' and I responded 'ok, we are done'.
When someone is gutless it really does not hurt to say goodbye. My faith in humanity will not diminish and the truth will always win.

The Israel-Germany relationship has always been more than a bilateral partnership. Born in the shadow of the Holocaust, it has evolved over eight decades into one of Israel’s most important strategic, diplomatic, security and economic relationships.
But today, this relationship stands at a pivotal point.
In a new Mitvim Institute paper, Ambassador (Ret.) Jeremy Issacharoff, former Israeli Ambassador to Germany, examines how the war after October 7, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, tensions around the Palestinian issue, and Germany’s changing security environment after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are reshaping this unique partnership.
Germany remains deeply committed to Israel’s security. At the same time, public opinion in Germany is changing, criticism of Israeli policy is growing, and Berlin continues to view the two-state framework as essential to Israel’s future and regional legitimacy.
The paper argues that Israel has a clear strategic interest in preserving Germany’s role as a bridge to Europe - and in engaging more seriously with German and European concerns.
Because weakening Israel’s relationship with Germany would not only affect bilateral ties. It could further damage Israel’s standing in Europe and beyond.
