I met with Japan’s Minister of Defense Shinjirō Koizumi @shinjirokoiz to advance our shared vision of peace through strength. Our strategic alignment is essential to building a credible denial defense—supported by increased investment, greater access, more realistic training, and stronger production of the munitions our forces need.

BIG: The U.S. has warned several Gulf countries to prepare for a possible short, intense military campaign against Iran after the November midterm elections. U.S. forces are reinforcing missile defenses, restocking ammunition and preparing bombers and fighter jets for potential strikes. Trump is reportedly leaning toward a major attack targeting Iranian infrastructure and nuclear sites but has not made a final decision. Israel is also preparing for renewed strikes. Source: WSJ

🚨 ISRAEL ELECTIONS — CHANNEL 12 UPDATED EXIT POLL According to left-wing Channel 12: Likud: 27 Yesh Atid: 21 United: 12 Joint List: 11 Democrats: 9 Yisrael Beiteinu (Our Home): 8 Ra'am: 7 Shas: 7 Jewish Home: 6 Otzma Yehudit: 6 Religious Zionism: 6 BLOC BREAKDOWN: 🔵 Netanyahu Bloc: 52 seats 🔴 Gantz Bloc: 50 seats 🟢 Arab Parties: 18 seats MAJORITY REQUIRED: 61 SEATS Even according to left-wing Channel 12's exit poll, neither major bloc has secured a majority. A reminder: These are exit polls, not final results. Historically, Israeli election-night projections have shifted as actual votes were counted. The final results could tell a very different story.
🚨 NETANYAHU’S BLOC CLIMBS TO 62 IN CHANNEL 14 EXIT POLL Channel 14’s updated projection gives Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc 62 seats, with Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu below the electoral threshold. If those numbers hold, Netanyahu has a path to a majority government. But Liberman crossing the threshold could change the seat distribution—and the coalition picture. The final count is what matters.

We are now in what might be called the journalist’s danger zone, where an overconfident prediction can stain the rest of your career. In 2015, the exit polls showed Likud and Isaac Herzog’s Zionist Union roughly tied at 27 or 28 seats each, and both camps claimed victory. The final result was Likud 30, Zionist Union 24, a six-seat gap no exit poll saw coming. Stay humble.

I🚨SRAEL ELECTIONS: LIKUD SURGES TO 27 SEATS—NETANYAHU AND OPPOSITION BLOCS NOW TIED 51–51 IN UPDATED CHANNEL 13 EXIT POLL (LEFT WING) A dramatic reversal in Channel 13's election projections. Netanyahu's Likud has gained another two seats, rising from 25 to 27, while Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar party loses one seat. Updated bloc projections: Netanyahu bloc: 51 seats Opposition bloc: 51 seats Arab parties: 18 seats Just four days ago, Channel 13 projected Likud winning only 19 seats. Tonight, its updated exit poll gives Likud 27—an eight-seat turnaround. And all of this comes despite exceptionally high Arab voter turnout, which was expected to strengthen the anti-Netanyahu camp. The political picture is shifting rapidly, and the official vote count is still underway. Once again, a reminder: Do not confuse television projections with actual election results.

The anti-Netanyahu parties made 2 promises to voters: 1. We will not form a government with Netanyahu. 2. We will not form a government with the Arab parties. Amit asks: Why is breaking the first promise considered a betrayal, while breaking the second is considered acceptable?
My question is why that criticism wasn’t heard throughout the campaign. Not at the right-wing bloc, but at Lieberman, Bennett and Lapid, and at Gadi Eisenkot, who explained that there’s the Zionist bloc, and then there are those who might support it from outside. We can all agree on one thing: if this exit poll holds, 70 MKs ran on saying no to Netanyahu and his coalition. That’s not up for debate. By the same token, let’s respect the fact that somewhere between 70 and 90 MKs promised not to sit with the Arab parties. Even without counting Yashar, there are 70 MKs against that partnership. So which election promise is supposed to be broken? A quick experiment: if Lieberman announced tonight that he was going with Bibi, everyone would jump on him in fury. So why, if he goes with the Arab parties, would everyone say, “See? Fine”? Why is one promise something we can shrug off, “the election’s over, the masks come off,” while the promise not to sit with Netanyahu is set in stone?
