It may be a dark day for British Zionists, but not for British Jews. Israel is a political state; Judaism is a religion. You represent the State of Israel, not British Jews. Conflating the two and exploiting Jewish identity to defend Israeli policies is reckless and shameful, especially from someone speaking in a rabbinical capacity.

Andy Burnham was blocked *because* he is a strong candidate who would threaten Starmer's position. This happens constantly at every level of the Labour Party. It is why so many Labour MPs, MSPs and councillors are incompetent.
Why was Andy Burnham blocked? Lets take at face value for a moment the risk to the Manchester metro mayorship - with its budget of billions and control of the police. So could Labour really have lost where Burnham was re-elected by a landslide. In 2024 it looked like this:

Jane Goodall died today. While smarter and more informed people will talk about her work, I want to share a snippet from her Wikipedia page - the two greatest paragraphs ever on Wikipedia. The first parts are amusing and interesting, but the last sentence elevates it to high art.

Another #Ebola outbreak declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo 👇
#EbolaOutbreak in DRC — what we know so far: ✅ A sixteenth Ebola outbreak has been declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo, confirmed in Kasai Province. ✅ 28 suspected cases and 15 deaths have been reported, including four healthcare workers. ✅ The index case is a 34-year-old pregnant woman. ✅ Laboratory tests confirmed the Zaire strain of Ebola. @AfricaCDC is working in close solidarity with the Ministry of Health. Our Director General @Dr_JeanKaseya is on the ground, coordinating an urgent response and deploying experts to strengthen surveillance, contact tracing, laboratory capacity, and infection prevention to protect communities and health workers. 🔗 Read the full statement: ow.ly/nggx50WRy4h #AfricaCDC

#France As of August 26, 2025, 228 indigenous #chikungunya cases have been reported. In addition, 15 Local #Dengue fever cases have been reported. They are located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Occitanie, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions, already affected in previous years, and for the first time in Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The growing number of transmission hotspots confirms the increased risk of indigenous transmission of these viruses in mainland France. Other cases will likely be identified, including outside the usual transmission areas. 15 human cases of vector-borne #WestNilevirus infection have been identified in five departments in mainland France. The affected regions are the PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) region, Occitanie (Occitanie), and, for the first time, Île-de-France (Île-de-France).

🚨Are we overestimating viral immunity in people with HIV?🚨 In our new study, we found that a widely used lab test might give false positives for people with HIV who are on certain types of medication (integrase inhibitors) Here’s what we found 🧵1/n

How many years, Angela, before you will say that you mark the anniversary of the deaths in Gaza, when over 50k? 60k? predominantly Muslim men, women and children were killed?

I graduated as a doctor 4 years ago with ~£100k of debt, and despite working up to 72 hours a week, my debt has only increased. Doctors are being paid £17/hour and have to make loan repayments and pay thousands for exams and fees. We are only asking for £23/hour. @wesstreeting
