I won't be taking any anime work anymore unless it's a project that I'm really interested in. To my animator friends who may need occasional nigen help, always feel free to reach out. I'll still lend a hand if I have time available.

this is how much professional 2D animation costs yes everyone complaining has no understanding of the time and work it actually takes per individual drawing, nor do they understand the idea that you're paying for specialty work that is not able to be done by the common person

also, this is $250 per second of full motion animation, NOT $250 per second for limited animation comparing to anime budgets where the animators are already underpaid as is, but also where pretty much every series relies on still frames throughout is obscene

This is an estimate based on a standard animator’s work flow ✨

Ex Animation Student here. People who don't understand animation think this is expensive, it is not. This artist is drawing 12 to 24 finished illustrations for 1 second of animation. So 20$ to 10$ an illustration. I'm addition, they are wearing many hats to get the final product done. In the animation industry, no one is drawing a full animation start to finish. The job is separated between; story board artists, key frame animators, filler frame animators, clean up and colorist. This person is doing every job in their service and their pay is justified.

I feel its important to present evidence on how its actually the Umamusume group that is at fault for this situation. To get a VISA as an Athlete, artist, or entertainer. You need to fill out the I-129 Form. Processing time usually takes from 13-15 month as you can see "attached photo" The Umamusume group apparently sent in VISA requests 6 months ago. Which means they didn't even likely do it in time for processing length. Now there is a Premium processing form called (Form I-907). This form guarantees USCIS action within 15 business days for an additional fee of about $2,965 per petition. This is the required fee as of the March 2026 adjustment. Now at this time we have no idea if the participants paid for Premium Processing. We however do know they sent it in 6 months ago. So if we go by the information given, we can assume they didn't do Premium Processing. Also its worth noting the price as of March is way over 6 months ago. So it wasn't a change to fees after they sent in their application form. O-1 (extraordinary ability) and P-1/P-3 (athletes, entertainers, culturally unique artists) VISAs were created under the Immigration Act of 1990. They have always involved high evidentiary standards, required consultation with labor unions or peer groups, and been subject to security screening. Complaints about slow, inconsistent, or unpredictable processing date back at least to the early 2000s. After Post-9/11 and 2000s: Increased security scrutiny lengthened timelines making the processing of VISAs longer. Premium processing which I mentioned above comes into play here. (guaranteeing faster USCIS action for an extra fee) was introduced around 2001; arts groups noted that regular (non-premium) processing often lagged as a result thanks to a post 9/11 world. Now we move into the Biden years and post-COVID: Pandemic backlogs affected the broader system. Non-premium processing I-129 medians were relatively contained in some years, but O/P artist-specific processing began lengthening more noticeably from around mid-2024. Interview waiver rules were also being tightened. So in conclusion its a known issue that has been getting worse with time and Covid made it even worse with backing up the system. I am not saying Trump hasn't tighten the program, but to put it all on him is wrong. Overall this seems to be a case of not applying in time and likely refusing to purchase the Premium Processing.

Animators should be able to publicly state their thoughts without fear, you don't need to pretend to be the happy go lucky, head empty, gacha pulls screenshots, genga and food only human shell. The animation industry pays worse than minimum wage for you to pretend to give a fuck.

Hello! I am an animator seen on titles such as One Piece, Dragon Ball, Pokemon and more and I really need your help in an emergency! My car got repo-ed and I'm behind on rent... I'm on a time limit to get it back. If you could please contribute or at least spread this I would be immensely grateful... throne.com/mixtheskele/item/…

I think its important for people to understand that just because there's sometimes a decent gap between seasons/cours for some series doesnt mean the production is immune to struggling near the end. Internal delays pile up constantly for one reason or another in unexpected ways.

Notably productions that attempt to be ambitious but have too much staff overlap from one episode to the next to support it and/or productions that get stuck with tons of heavy retakes/corrections which causes the staff to fall behind schedule.

the animation discourse on here this past week has been flat out nasty harassing animators and directors for the final result on screen not being at its best is cruel, especially considering the crunch and overwork it takes to make it to air in these situations

all of this powerscaling of entire productions, studios, staff members themselves, etc has created this environment where creatives get treated like pro althletes you do good work consistently, but underperform once for any reason and suddenly the twitter flood gates open

i dont believe artists are beyond critique, but when an individual or a team has demonstrated what they're capable with more time and/or enough staff to make it happen, coming down on them super hard when the schedule very obviously interferes is unhelpful
