Practicing Gratitude @belleriverbucs What are you thankful for that you already have? Let’s grow an attitude of gratitude by being grateful for the things that make us happy each day! This class had good ideas -family, friends, pets, sports, sun, fav colour, food.... @gecdsbpro

LOVE Wk 7 lessons @belleriverbucs Did you know our brain has a natural inclination to notice negative things, the bad stuff sticks! This negativity bias helped our ancestors survive but is not helpful today. Use GRATITUDE to rewire your brain so the positive stuff sticks too!

Happy World Ocean Day!🌊Everything we do affects our oceans & all life. Pollution created, stuff we dump down drains etc… often end up in our oceans. 71% of earth is covered by OCEANS. Perhaps we should call our home “Ocean” rather than Earth🙏🌊🐟@gecdsbpro

Approaches to mental wellness aren’t one-size-fits-all. People and cultures have unique needs and ways of taking care of mental health and substance use health. Most Indigenous worldviews take a holistic approach to wellness seeking to balance mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional realities. That’s the approach of the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework which is informed by Indigenous wisdom and knowledge to improve mental wellness outcomes for First Nations. CMHA is committed to advancing truth and reconciliation, better supporting Indigenous communities, and working as allies with Indigenous mental health organizations to advocate for increased funding for Indigenous-led health services. Learning about Indigenous history, knowledge, traditions, and worldviews is an important step toward reconciliation. Mindfulness of Thoughts @WestgateWolves Tune into your thinking. What are you saying to yourself all day? If you could pull your mind out & turn it into a friend, would you hang w/ that person? Ask - Is this a helpful thought? If not, “change the channel” @gecdsbpro #empowering

Awesome intro lessons @ForestGladePS Mindfulness means paying attention right here, right now, with kindness & curiosity. When we are truly present we generally have pleasant emotions. We feel calm, happy, inspired, grounded, good… Where is your peaceful place? @gecdsbpro

Mindfulness of thoughts @belleriverbucs We have 50 000-70 000 thoughts per day. How many are you even aware of? Have you been in a bad mood & didn’t know why? May be your own thoughts. You are not your thoughts. Thoughts come & go. Change the channel of your focus! @gecdsbpro

“Ms!”Gr. 8 boy yelled as he jogged across the schoolyard, waving his arm. He stopped in front of me & said, “I was hoping to see you. I started practising the mindfulness tools you taught us. It works! I’m falling asleep fast at night. I really wanted to thank you”🙏🥹@gecdsbpro
