Whilst other factors have contributed to Poundland's demise, your party's policies have played a major part. Even the judge said so. You've turned off replies, but for god's sake read the other quotes, and for once get your head out of the sand. @Alison_S_Taylor
I am deeply concerned that Poundland jobs are at risk here in constituency of #PaisleyRenfrewshireNorth in #Braehead with many constituents impacted. Poundland has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, putting 11,000 jobs at risk across more than 600 stores and distribution centres across the UK. I welcome PM Andy Burham's support for Poundland workers & like him, I question why the company's owners chose not to accept a viable solvent offer which @UsdawUnion say could have prevented this outcome. This situation was entirely predictable by @Poundland according to the Shop Workers Trade Union who have been monitoring the situation closely for some time. I have reached out to parliamentary colleagues to explore what options are available to assist and I hope to meet with USDAW trade union who represent Poundland workers to discuss the local issues in more detail.

Growth in every postcode.
Just 1 day after Poundland went into Administration putting 12,000 jobs at risk, Virgin Media O2 are now set to axe around 4,000 jobs from their workforce. This adds to recent significant layoffs at BT Group, Sky and Vodafone Three. The dominoes are falling on the UK economy, Labour are leading us to ruin.

Available evidence doesn't support portraying Paul Bowen of Bowen Pies as a low-wage employer. Indeed, the limited salary information points towards pay above the statutory minimum. Misinformation 👇
“Why should I, a millionaire with 6 houses, suffer a slight loss so that those on minimum wage can afford to live, pay rent, heat their homes and feed their families?” My heart bleeds for you. Entitled fool. They’d pay people a pound a day if they could in the name of ‘profit’.

An influencer asked my café for free food in exchange for "exposure." I politely said no. She posted a video calling my café dirty and the staff rude. She has two hundred thousand followers. We lost customers that week. But I remembered something. Our café has security cameras with sound, and a sign on the door saying so. I watched her visit again.

"What has become of this country?" Indeed. Indeed.
My sister went to Waitrose on Sunday in Mill Hill East and there was a veteran called Fred selling poppies. She went to buy one for him and as it was chilly outside asked to buy him a coffee to warm him up. In conversation she heard from him how he has been spat at, called a racist and a warmonger … all for selling poppies to remember our most brave and fallen heroes. It broke my heart. What has become of this country? Where is the gratitude to those that lay down their lives so we could be free? Where has pride in our country gone?

Freezing tax thresholds is basically dragging more people into paying more tax by stealth. Despite governments saying they would not put up income tax, they effectively have . True?

Reshare the fuck out of this website: bowenpies.co.uk Would like to see this lad’s business soar, if nothing else but to annoy the fuck out of jealous lefty shite
Anyway, get ordering some pies from Bowen’s. They aren’t cheap but they are absolutely excellent. Only ever bought them from the shop in Adlington, but I’ve taken the cold ones to heat at home. Brilliant, I promise you. bowenpies.co.uk/

Look what’s lurking on page 118 of the Budget document… Once again, the government has delegated one of our most politically salient questions to an unaccountable body of experts … 👇 “For all the Budget’s uneventfulness, there was buried in the small print something more pernicious and revealing of this government’s priorities. Tucked away on page 118 of the Budget document, the Treasury announced that, from next spring, employers will be allowed to recruit certain foreign workers on lower salaries than the current rules permit. That is to say, the government is making it easier for businesses to rely on immigration rather than recruiting and training Brits. Let us not forget we have a million Neets. While Alan Milburn beavers away on his long-awaited report into the youth employment crisis and the government pays lip service to its commitment to tackling it, Burnham and Healey have decided to make it easier to hire from abroad. What is the purpose of spending billions educating our young people who are then unable to secure jobs? Or then spending billions more supporting them as dependents on the state? It should be a truth too obvious to state that a government’s first responsibility is to its own citizens and ensuring they have a reasonable chance of getting a job, but then such sentiments can no longer be taken for granted. And it is not just this one concession. Elsewhere in the Budget are plans to give some migrant workers longer to find another job if their employment ends, as well as expanding visas for foreign graduates and allowing more international students to remain in Britain after finishing their degrees. Where did this change to salary thresholds come from? Tellingly, it was recommended by the ‘Migration Advisory Committee’, an influential body headed by a handful of academics but which most people aren’t even aware exists. Once again, the government has delegated one of our most politically salient questions to an unaccountable body of experts. But ultimately the buck stops with ministers. The Migration Advisory Committee’s members are appointed by the home secretary, and its recommendations are not binding. This is a familiar Whitehall trick: turning a political choice into an administrative inevitability. For a government which claims to want to ‘Get Britain Working’, making it easier to recruit workers from abroad while almost a million young Brits remain languishing without work is an odd way of going about it. And even more tragic is what it suggests: that Labour appears to have so little faith in the people that it governs” Spectator.

Honestly. This country 🤦‍♂️
A Hampshire couple have been fined £600 and ordered to pay a further £6,000 in costs for allowing their 14-year-old son to work on the family's mobile food trailer. Dexter, their son, enjoys it and has a passion for it. That’s typical of the laws in this country. Encourage the work shy and penalise the hard working. As if the stress on this family weren’t enough the family said they were tackling the dispute with the council while supporting eldest son Oskar, 17, while he received treatment for blood cancer. @darrenpaffey @laboursatvir @carolinenokes Parents fined for employing teen son in food trailer bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8vg…

1 million horses were taken from civilian life in Britain alone for WW1. Only 62,000 ever came back. Alongside them, over 20,000 British dogs were sent to the front lines as messengers, sentries, and mercy dogs seeking out the wounded. They braved shellfire, gas, and mud, pulling heavy guns and locating the fallen. The unsung heroes who had no voice, but gave everything. While the red poppy honors fallen human soldiers, the purple poppy is worn to remember the millions of animals who served and lost their lives in war. This is a touching tribute at Kelso War Memorial gardens.

I hate landlordism. Does that count? At its heart, collecting rent on land is economic parasitism- and who like a parasite?

An interesting story in the Times which highlights the foolishness of giving HMRC the power to take money straight out of people's bank accounts. Tax lawyer Simon Evans only found out that he apparently owed HM Revenue & Customs money when it was extracted from his bank account. Last month he got a letter from HMRC to say it had taken £2,300 out of his account because it claimed he had unpaid tax. “There wasn’t a dispute, we’d never heard from HMRC nor had our accountant who has handled our taxes for many years,” Evans said. “It turns out that HMRC had sent letters to an old address in London that we haven’t lived at in years,” he said. “This is despite the fact that all of our Companies House and tax returns are up to date with our correct address and our accountant’s address." “If we owed this money we would of course have paid it. We wanted to know if there had been an administrative oversight, but over several calls no one at HMRC could tell us what we owed, or from what period it was owed. Our accountant is still trying to get to the bottom of it." This is what happens when you give an incompetent public sector bureaucracy the power to take money out of people's bank accounts.

A rather foolish premature claim, particularly as Burnham failed to do so on a much smaller scale in Manchester.
This Labour Government will end rough sleeping across Britain.

Some things that British voters have forgotten. 🔴Making a profit is no vice. 🔴Inequality is not evil. 🔴The fact that tax cuts chiefly benefit people who pay taxes is not an argument against them. 🔴Governments spend money less well than you do. 🔴There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

Hilarious when complete strangers know more about me than me. Tenants repeatedly tell us they view our property as their home. They're also perfectly happy with the arrangement. And why a discount? We've provided their home & rental income = interest on investment elsewhere. 👇👎

Labour's increase in income tax on property and savings income is a direct breach of its manifesto commitment not to raise income tax. "Labour will not increase taxes on working people, which is why we will not increase National Insurance, the basic, higher, or additional rates of Income Tax, or VAT," was the precise wording in the manifesto, yet Labour will now increase income tax by 4% on property and savings income. Rachel Reeves made it clear in 2024 that savers were "working people", saying "there are people who do have savings, who have been able to save up and those are working people as well." It's a clear breach of the central promise on which they were elected.
