Seeing how surprisingly tall Toph became as an adult, only to appear much shorter again in her old age, gave me a new appreciation for how much aging can physically change a person. In Toph’s case, I wonder whether her reduced height was simply a result of aging, years of desk work as Chief of Police, or just a deliberate character-design choice to emphasize how old she had become. Meanwhile, elderly Zuko seemed to retain much of his height and posture, showing far fewer visible signs of physical decline. I also feel a little sorry for Toph. She never appeared to find a lasting romantic partner and spent much of her life raising her daughters largely on her own. But one thing I still desperately want to know is what happened to Sokka’s love life in his later years. Did he ever settle down? Did he have children? What happened to him after the original Team Avatar went their separate ways? Because honestly, Sokka’s later life remains one of the biggest unanswered questions for me, and I know I’m not the only one curious! 😭
