Request for help: I'm looking for a map of Roman Britain ( 2nd/third cent.) with major settlements on it and preferably with administrative borders of civitates. No other stuff or screaming colours. So far I have not found a suitable one online. Tips are welcome!

The remains of a monumental Roman mausoleum have been found in Soutwark, London. An amazing find!
The remains of a Roman mausoleum “with an astonishing level of preservation” – believed to be the most intact structure of its kind discovered in Britain – have been unearthed in London.

I'm doing a bit of reading on medieval cosmetic usage & thought I'd share a bit to dispel the "medieval people were dirty & smelly & didn't care for their bodies" narrative
A more "natural" look was preferred in 13c Italy where a neutral base, pink rouge, black eyeliner,

I asked the National Gallery how much money they make from image fees (the licensing cost if you want to publish works in their collection). After initially refusing to answer, they confirmed that actually they lose money. 1/3

A rare find: a fragment of a Roman milestone found along the #limes!
#romanarchaeology
Let museums come to life! The halls the National Museum of Antiquities smelled of roses, lavender, honey and almond oil yesterday: the scents that might have once have been stored in the perfume bottle found in this sarcophagus found in Simpelveld, NL.

Once more for the people at the back - 18th c corsets did not pinch. They moulded to the body. If the actresses are in pain the corset does not fit. metro.co.uk/2023/02/22/netfl…
Find of a complete Roman helmet in situ! Roman reenactors:
There are now well over 100 Montefortino helmets known, but most lack cheek pieces. The #CrecchioHelmet is the first to not only supply in-situ cheek pieces but also the head that wore it! #BestRME04 tinyurl.com/2p974s6c
I'm loving the new #TombTuesday and would like to present Decimina from York (Eboracum), RIB 692. This tomb is dedicated to the memory of a girl, whose facial features and loose hair indicate her age. She wears a tunic with two decorative stripes (clavi)

Yesterday's lecture @leidenarchaeology on provincial Roman dress in Gaul, with my two reconstructions of Gallic dress, which are based on depictions of this type of garment on funerary portraits and archaeological textiles. #Archaeology #Fashionhistory
Here they are: both reconstructions are in wool, in different fabrics: fine and medium weight.
I was invited to give a presentation for the alumni association, as I was a student at Leiden University for my Bachelors in Archaeology and Masters in Ancient History.

New publication is out! I wrote a chapter on women in banqueting iconography in Roman Britain, exploring the inclusivity of women in the adoption of and familiarity with Roman style dining practices.
