Alabama OL evaluation vs ECU: The biggest issue wasn’t pass protection. It was displacement in the run game. C Racin Delgatty had several snaps where his anchor gave ground and the DT was able to compress the A-gap into the backfield. When your center gets knocked backward, it disrupts the mesh point, forces the RB to redirect early and can wreck inside zone before it ever develops. That said, this wasn’t a total OL failure. Alabama still rushed for 227 yards and 5 TDs, and Keelon Russell was generally protected well. The bigger concern was inconsistent movement across the interior and left side. Context matters too: ECU’s defensive front is older, experienced and battle-tested. Alabama is replacing 4 starters up front, including a center making the jump from FCS football. ECU was a much better Week 1 trench test than most fans realize. My takeaway: Pass protection: encouraging Run blocking: inconsistent Center anchor: concern OL cohesion: work in progress Panic level: low, but worth watching If Delgatty continues getting walked back against SEC interiors, then it becomes a real problem. After one game against a veteran front, it’s a concern...not a verdict. #RollTide #Bama #AlabamaFootball #SEC @AlabamaFTBL @JimmyStein_LOB @LSRobinson21 @ClintRLamb @AlafrigginBama
