On #WorldAIDSDay, a reminder that although the number of people in prison with HIV has dropped precipitously since the 90s, it is still far more common in prisons than outside, a reflection of the overpolicing of Black and Hispanic communities and the relentless war on drugs.

We don’t need Cop City. We need access to housing. We don’t need Cop City. We need access to food. We don’t need Cop City. We need proper payment for our work. We don’t need Cop City. We need access to healthcare. We don’t need Cop City. We need a new economy, a new society.

Abolition isn’t *just* a way of viewing & imagining the external world, but a politic/praxis that governs our internal world as well. You cannot scream “abolish the police” when you police your colleagues, children, partners, neighbors etc w/the power you possess. Cease & desist

New study shows 43 of the 50 most populous cities in the US spend more on police, jails, courts, etc than on health & human svcs, public health, parks & rec, etc. This spending ratio is not correlated to public safety at all. journals.plos.org/plosone/ar…

We want to be clear: forcibly removing people from the streets and confining them in hospitals against their will is policing and incarceration by another name.

All of Puerto Rico lost power last Sunday. Today is Friday and more than 920k people are still without power. People have died because of generators exploding or their house catching fire due to candles. Some supermarkets will have to shut down bc they’re running out of fuel.

I've never seen any progressive movement poll well, even among Black people. Majority of slaves didn't flee from plantations. Most Black churches did not support Civil Rights Movement. Women opposed suffrage. Grateful for people who fight for unpopular freedom dreams over polls
Unpopular fact: Black voters (the ones who actually vote) are pretty clear on their feelings of defunding the police…and it’s not a yes/no answer. Your favorite Twitter activists might need to go knock on some doors and talk to Black people IRL.
