So grateful to work with this inspiring group of young polar researchers! @JSEP_GL @DartArctic – at Greenland
Check out all the cool ways (pun intended) in which cyanobacterial blooms can appear! Thanks to an amazing @GLEONetwork team
📢We all know know that blooms like it hot, but did you know that some #cyano blooms also like it cold?
Check out the latest paper from the @GLEONetwork Cyano WG paper in L&O Letters: "Blooms also like it cold".

ALT Temporal trends in surface water temperature for Lake Sunapee as assessed by Landsat-derived Collection 2 temperature estimates and low-frequency in situ measurements at 0.5-m depth. The lines are the result of indicator variable regressions that assess whether there was a change in slope or intercept due to the source of the temperature data

So excited to have @JVTHaney's last dissertation paper out in the world: the key take-home is that microcystins were detected in all taxonomic groups sampled in Greenlandic lakes and ponds, with little evidence of bioaccumulation across trophic levels

Cyanobacterial toxins can contaminate drinking water, threaten human health, & impact ecosystems; a new study finds these #cyanotoxins in #Arctic lakes
