Genuine question: Why do MPs get their utility bills expensed?
It seems mad to be that their salary comes from the public purse - much like NHS and other life saving services. But they get paid more than double *and* they get their bills and travel paid.

Remember that one well. When we had a PM who knew what he was doing, and a commitment to the NHS that was backed up with action rather than gaslighting words
#OTD 2000. On Frost, Tony Blair pledges an extra £12bn for the NHS - to bring spending in line with the EU average by 2006.
It resulted in one of the biggest ever increases for the NHS with nurses receiving a £1k pay rise.
