I grew up Muslim and I no longer follow it.
The Muslim Brotherhood controlled the government that almost killed me for leaving Islam.
I know Islamic governance when I see it. The words, the liturgy, the psychology, the dress code.
Elsayed is the epitome of what I left behind.

Michigan elected Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed — the first Muslim senator in United States history.
His parents came from Egypt on student visas in 1978.
One generation later, their son is writing laws for 330 million Americans.
Michigan’s Muslim population has roughly quadrupled since the 1990s, driven by waves of refugees from Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Syria that Washington welcomed with open arms.
Dearborn is now majority Arab. Hamtramck elected America’s first all-Muslim city council in 2021.
When the demographics shift, the politics follow — and last night proved it.
Five declared socialists won House seats. Texas — Texas — flipped blue for the first time in 30 years. The Democratic Socialists of America now have seven members in Congress.
Biden’s wide-open border didn’t just let people in. It built a permanent voting bloc that will shape American policy for decades.
Sana Ebrahimi Ledene @SanaELedene gives details.
"1- In 2012 he signed a letter to Mohamed Morsi (the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt) supporting his power grab and calling on him to “purge the media and the police as quickly as possible.”
2- His biological mother, Fatten Elkomy, worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA), which the U.S. Treasury designated for supporting terrorism. His half-sister has publicly said their mother was active in the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in the 1970s.
3- His half-sister Eman Abdelhadi posted on social media about their mother’s Muslim Brotherhood activism and expressed support for family members backing the Brotherhood in Egypt.
4- He refused to condemn the IRGC when directly asked by an Iranian-American student whose family was targeted by them. Leaked audio also shows he deliberately stayed silent on Khamenei’s death because “there are a lot of people in Dearborn who are sad,” prioritizing his base over basic condemnation of a terrorist regime.
5- His father, Mohamed El-Sayed, sits on the board of Life for Relief and Development, a Michigan-based Islamic charity that paid a $780,000 settlement to the U.S. Treasury for violating sanctions by transferring money into Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. The group has also faced raids and scrutiny over alleged ties to terror-linked networks.
These are documented facts."

I’m so sick of seeing people across social media claim Abdul El-Sayed is only getting heat “because he’s a Muslim man.”
That’s not the reason. Other Muslims have been elected to office without this reaction. Repeating it just makes you look stupid.
Here are the actual problems:
1- In 2012 he signed a letter to Mohamed Morsi (the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt) supporting his power grab and calling on him to “purge the media and the police as quickly as possible.”

Erdoğan was right when he said:"There is no radical or moderate Islam; there is only Islam."This does not mean that every Muslim is a radical. It means that there is only one text—and when the moment of truth arrives, those who interpret it literally take control of the narrative.

Bill Maher Accuses Rula Jebreal of echoing Al-Qaeda’s Views During Heated Debate on Islam and Free Speech
Bill Maher: Can you be gay in Gaza?
Rula Jebreal: Yes, you can.
You’re a Palestinian, and I’m a secular Muslim. When you talk about Islam in a certain way, it’s sometimes offensive. But that’s what free speech is about. If free speech is only speech you like, it’s not free speech.
Bill Maher: Nobody stopped him. He was invited to give a speech. People can listen, agree or disagree. That’s the essence of the American system.
Rula Jebreal: Really? And live? I’ve travelled the Middle East. Is there a gay bar in Gaza?
Rula Jebreal: You’re treating the Muslim community in this country like a fifth column. They’re underrepresented in the media and in politics. You never invite them here to discuss these issues.
Bill Maher: What I want is not a war on Islam. I want to win the war on terror. When you repeat the same things Al-Qaeda says, you’re doing their work for them.
Rula Jebreal: Every time I say something you don’t like, suddenly it’s not a serious conversation, or I’m a bigot. Either I say exactly what you want, or I’m a bigot.
Bill Maher: The majority are being blamed for the criminal acts of a minority. Unfortunately, the majority are disorganised, while a small minority is well organised.

Over 60 Muslim men raped Scarlett West from the age of 14.
None have been convicted. Her father stood as Restore Britain’s candidate for Greater Manchester mayor.
There was no national outrage, no wave of arrests, and no accountability.
Russell Brand, by contrast, is facing the full force of the justice system over an allegation involving touching a woman’s breast 15 years ago. If the evidence shows he is a predator, he should be punished.
That is how a functioning system works.
The same system has produced nothing for Scarlett. The men who systematically raped and trafficked her as a child remain free.
This is not an isolated failure. It is a pattern in which certain offenders are pursued relentlessly while others walk amongst us.
Where are the 60 Muslim men who raped a child?
Disgraceful.

Student Challenges Ayaan Hirsi Ali on Islamophobia — She Responds With a Warning About the Caliphate
Student : You speak of Islamophobia and classes like Black Studies as phony,
ideologically driven things. But what makes white supremacy or Islamophobia different from antisemitism?
America imported millions of African slaves, Native Americans faced forced marches and genocide, and Muslims are being massacred in China today.
So what makes antisemitism so different?
Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Two things.
First, America and Western Europe have reckoned with their past.
We had slavery, we fought a war and ended it. We had segregation, we fought another major battle and ended it. We had the Civil Rights Movement.
And the people leading many of those emancipation movements were Christians inspired by the Bible.
Second, antisemitism is the oldest hatred in humanity, and you find it across the entire world.
What made the West different was that after nearly exterminating its Jewish population, it looked honestly in the mirror and confronted what it had done.
Islamophobia is a made-up word.
It's been created by a political movement that wants to exploit Western guilt to achieve its ultimate goal: the revival of the caliphate.
And the goal of that movement is to convert people to Islam whether they want to or not.
Those who refuse, she says, could face violence.
That's part of what I mean by subversion, active measures and asymmetric warfare.
The Islamists have become incredibly successful against nations with enormous military and economic power.
Islam is spreading.
They've regained Afghanistan. They have Iraq. They have Syria.
And Muslim governments themselves are afraid of what the Islamist movement could do to them.
They're exploiting principles like freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association.
We need to understand that and find a way to preserve our principles while beating the Islamists at their own game.
Student : Is there room for compromise between principles?
Ayaan Hirsi Ali: If I want to kill you and behead you unless you convert to the religion I dictate, what would be the place of compromise?
Student : I wouldn't mind converting, since I'm agnostic, but I understand some people wouldn't share that vision...

Salman Rushdie Makes a Chilling Claim About Extremism Within Islam — Bill Maher Says the Problem Goes Deeper Than Terrorism
Bill Maher: Turkey's President said, "Women are not equal to men, our religion has defined position for women, motherhood."
I can't imagine a Western government leader saying that.
What we've said all along, and have been called bigots for it, is when there's this many bad apples, there's something wrong with the orchard.
Salman Rushdie: There's been a deadly mutation in the middle of Islam.
This is not a random mutation.
Governments from the Sunni side, the Saudi government;
on the Shia side, the Iranian government have been putting fortunes of money into making sure that extremist mullahs are preaching in mosques around the world, building schools in which a whole generation is being educated in extremism.
But in a way, we're a side show. This is a project to seize power in the Islamic world.
Whether it's the Taliban, ISIS, Boko Haram, or Al-Shabaab, what they're trying to do is create a mindset which allows them to conquer the world of Islam.
Paul Begala: That's critical for Americans to realize. It's not about us. The real fight is not Islam versus the West, it's within Islam. It's between the terrorists and the tolerant. It's between Al-Qaeda and Malala.
Kirsten Powers: Yeah, but it is Americans who are being beheaded by ISIS right now.
Bill Maher: There should be a distinction, because obviously the vast majority of Muslims would never do anything like this. But they share bad ideas.
Sam Harris said, "Islam is the mother lode of bad ideas," and everyone went fucking nuts, but it is!
These two guys who shot up the cartoonist the other day were revenging the prophet.
A bad idea! Martyrdom, a bad idea! Women as second-class citizens, a bad idea! And unfortunately, the terrorists and the mainstream share a lot of these bad ideas.

Muhammad said these things:
“I am the Prophet of Massacres.” (Ash-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya and Musnad Ahmad)
"O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).” (Sahih al-Bukhari 304)
“I have been made victorious for a distance of one month journey with terror" (Sahih al-Bukhari 2977)
"The testimony of a woman is equal to half of a man, because of the deficiency of a woman's mind" (Sahih al-Bukhari 2658)
"Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him." (Sahih al-Bukhari 6922)
“I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle...” (Sahih al-Bukhari 25)
He also married a child, owned slaves, killed men, and had multiple wives.
And Muhammad is the ideal to which every Muslim man should aspire to be (Qur'an 33:21).

Salim Ahmed Said, 37, a Somali-born co-owner of Safari Restaurant in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his role in stealing $44 million from a taxpayer-funded program intended to feed underprivileged children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prosecutors revealed that Said claimed his restaurant was distributing up to 6,000 meals daily, while FBI surveillance showed an average of just 40 people collecting food. Fraudulent claims even listed children who did not exist.
Said and his associates used the scheme to obtain millions in public funds, which financed luxury purchases.
Convicted in 2025 on 21 felony counts involving fraud, bribery and money laundering, Said was also ordered to pay more than $44 million in restitution.
