both the US and Israel are continuing to acquire new F15s (not stealth aircraft) despite already operating F35s and being able to acquire as many F35s as they want.
And the literal head of NORAD (a 4 star US Air Force General) explicitly said that 5th gen stealth fighters are *not* needed for NORAD. Because the Russians and Chinese do not have air force bases right off our territory (in the way we do near Russian and Chinese territory).
The idea that only 5th or 6th gen aircraft are valuable and that everything else can/should be done by drones is obviously incorrect. Which is why the US and Israeli air forces are still buying non stealth fighters.
I realize these narratives are popular on social media eg "drones can do everything" or "fighters without stealth are useless" but that's not how actual air force professionals view these matters. Much more complex and nuanced in reality. Drones cannot do everything. In the air or at sea or underwater. And stealth fighters are not optimized for all airpower tasks.
Replying to @HoyasFan07
The only non-5th or 6th gen fighter the US plans on procuring into the early 2030s is the 4.5 gen F15EX (and at far smaller rates than the F-35). The reason is that it basically acts as a missile carrier, as it can carry a far higher payload than the F-35 or Gripen.
Again, if you were getting the Gripen tomorrow, I could see the value. Not getting the 1st one until possibly 2033, which is around the last year the US will take delivery of the F15EX orders and years after the US starts taking delivery of the F-47, is just nuts (and also nuts for a jobs program, as you know it ends in <10 years).

Bill, you're one of the few people I genuinely admire and respect. But I must say that I wholeheartedly disagree with you on this.
It makes little difference who Israelis elect. The overwhelming majority of Muslims in the Arab world and beyond are not going to abandon their hostility towards Israel and antisemitism simply because its government changes.
As I've said before, when I was a Muslim antisemite, my hatred wasn't driven by any particular Israeli politician. It made no difference to me whether Israel was governed by the most peace-loving, left-wing politician or by someone on the right whom I, and the world, considered anti-Arab. The hostility was there regardless.
Ben Gvir and Smotrich are simply convenient excuses for people who want to justify their anti-Israel hatred.
Look at the political leadership in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the Arab world. Look at their blatant antisemitism. Why does their conduct so rarely lead people to suggest that Muslims as a whole are antisemitic, while the actions and rhetoric of Ben Gvir and Smotrich are routinely used to portray Israel as a nation of extremists?
I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America.
Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis.
As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page.
This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

International Institute for Religious Freedom (IIRF) Report, “A Critical Assessment of Media Reporting and Documentation Efforts on Sexual Violence Against Alawite Women in Syria”:
The abductions of women cannot be understood as merely individual or isolated crimes.
- Available evidence points to organized operations, coordinated networks, and a strategic media campaign, alongside indications of complicity by official entities, deliberate concealment of evidence, and systematic efforts to silence survivors of sexual violence.
- The victims included schoolgirls as young as eleven, university students, young mothers, pregnant women, and professionals such as teachers and female university faculty members.
- Many women returned with visible signs of torture. Some victims had been held in underground locations, deprived of food, or subjected to long-term psychological trauma.
- In several cases, victims were forced into marriages while in captivity, often to strangers or individuals affiliated with armed groups.
- Some women were coerced into recording videos in which they claimed that they had “left of their own free will” or “married voluntarily,” contradicting their families’ testimonies and the circumstances surrounding their disappearances.
- These coerced narratives appear to have been designed to obscure evidence of abductions and torture and shield perpetrators from legal accountability.
The International Institute for Religious Freedom (IIRF) report, “A Critical Assessment of Media Reporting and Documentation Efforts on Sexual Violence Against Alawite Women in Syria,” highlights the role of state and security agencies as a major cause for concern.
Families attempting to report disappearances repeatedly encountered obstacles. Some police stations refused to file the necessary reports, surveillance cameras were declared “out of order,” communications data were withheld, and the follow-up of complaints was obstructed or prevented.
- In several cases, security agencies detained victims after their return, interrogated them, and forced them to adopt fabricated accounts of what they had experienced.
- Husbands and relatives who sought information were threatened or arrested.
- Many families received warnings not to publish photographs of missing women, report abductions, or speak publicly about the cases.
- In one case, a family was told that its entire village would be destroyed if it continued seeking information about their daughter's fate.
- The absence of survivors’ testimonies should not be interpreted as an absence of violations. Rather, it may reflect the extent of their vulnerability and the social constraints that limit the ability of women belonging to minority communities to recount their experiences.

MENA Christians carried out both Sabra and Shatila against Palestinians and the Munich Massacre against Israelis. You can’t put them in one neat tidy little category.
They’re fighting for their survival in a very dangerous region, without statehood or large numbers, and so we see all kinds of different political opinions from them

Netanyahu campaigns on being the Israeli who knows how to win over America best. Now he’s saying Israel should prepare for a time when America will become Israel’s enemy, not friend.
As an American, I think repulsing Israel is akin to shooting ourselves in the foot for the following reasons:
1- We don’t dominate the global order and economy like we used to in the 1980s and 90s. Four years of making a pariah out of Russia have proven to be ineffective.
2- Israel is like Messi (the soccer star) of high tech and defense tech. The anti-Western blocs (BRICS, Shanghai, etc) would love to see Israel join them. With Russia, these blocs blunted Western punishment. India is already Israel’s closest ally, and Muslim Palestine is not a hill India would like to die on. China and Russia too will seek interests with Israel over whatever Arab injustices. The two countries vetoed a dozen resolutions thus allowing Assad to kill half a million Syrians. Obama’s “high moral ground” is not their thing.
3- If America ditches Israel, that’ll free the Jewish state of inhibitions and will open the way — if it chooses — to deport every Arab between the river and the sea. America will have no punishment to wave (suspend aid or cooperation) or favors to call.
4- If Israel becomes enemy, America will be left with barely three reliable partners in the Middle East — likely Jordan, Bahrain and the UAE. For example, an “ally” like Turkey has not allowed the U.S. to use its Incerlik airbase for military operations since forever. An ally like Qatar has its soft power bashing America day and night. Israel has been the country where you never hear a single bad word against America, only total friendship.
I hope matters don’t get to this, but the majority who want America to turn Israel into an enemy themselves hate America (Tlaib and the Islamismts). On the Right, the antisemites are usually isolationists whose views will cause America further global damage anyway, regardless of Israel.
Wonder what Reagan or Clinton would have done…

I'm in Israel. I've just had this personally from the Foreign Minister: there is no policy change.
This story is not true.
Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israel to support Argentina over the Falklands, The Telegraph can reveal.
The Israeli prime minister told diplomats to change his country’s official position and join Buenos Aires in calling for direct talks over the future of the islands.

The vast majority of people currently 'reporting on settler violence' in the West have literally no idea what is going on in Judea and Samaria. It is stunning and somewhat eerie. In the wake of their total absence of knowledge, they have invented a phantasmagorical narrative in which hundreds of thousands of demonic 'settlers' are rampaging across the West Bank attacking unarmed Palestinians, led by the demon-kings of 'Netanyahu,' 'Smotrich,' and 'Ben-Gvir.'

Netanyahu today said israel will face — and is developing plans to deal with — boycotts and sanctions, even some banking sanctions. He was roundly attacked during this campaign season for saying so. Goes with the turf of Israeli politics, I suppose.
But in truth, he is describing a threat already materializing. Norway, Netherlands, Spain others already are heading that way. DSA/Democrat voices in the U.S. Congress already are suggesting it. The woke Reich is salivating at the opportunity to impale Jews.
So, one can only wonder if in two years, had PM Netanyahu not warned of and done exactly as he is doing, how many would then criticize him for having ignored the writing on the wall, having done nothing when he knew there was a threat, and whistled by the graveyard to fail the nation. There would be calls then for a commission of inquiry to examine his failure to warn and act.
It may be a tough political message, but it is reassuring to know the prime minister of Israel is steeling his nation to cope with what we have to accept are trend lines over whose trajectory he has little influence to fundamentally alter. These are trends that ultimately are not about Israel, but about western civilization debated through Israel as symbol. Israel is the football. And footballs don’t kick themselves.
Israel can prepare and react, and even slightly influence, but it cannot fundamentally turn western civilization off its self-destructive and delusional course. It can offer itself as a beacon for civilizational reinforcement, confidence and determination, but Israel is just not big enough to dominate internal discourse about the essence of Western civilization in the U.S.
Only Americans can do that.
So while it may not sell politically, I commend Israel’s prime minister for raising this threat and setting in motion plans to address it.
Norway just proved it is one of Hamas’s most reliable Western allies. They still refuse to list Hamas as a terrorist organization, even after October 7 massacre.
Months after the massacre, Norway recognized “Palestine” as a reward for the slaughter of over 1,000 Jews.
Now they’re pushing a law that would imprison people for up to three years for buying wine, dates, or services from Jews in Judea, Samaria, or East Jerusalem.
Norway is not confused, neutral, or “balancing.” It is choosing the side that wants Jews dead, dressing it up as human rights and peace process language.
Every other Western country listing Hamas as terrorists should ask why Norway still won’t. Every Jew in Judea and Samaria should understand that Oslo’s next move is to make ordinary life a crime.
