41.18 continues to be as ineptly implemented as it is cruelly designed.
After over a year, I got removed a long-closed daycare & the office of an *online-only* school. Earlier, I got fixed the mapping all of UCLA b/c of its daycare in 1 corner. Just the errors in Westwood alone.
The smallest of the many problems with 41.18, but the bottom of new enforcement signs give an incorrect Council File number, meaning they don't actually point to where you can view the @LACityCouncil resolution enacting the zone. @LACityClerk @UnrigLA @ResedaforAll @marvistavoice

ALT SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT ZONE BEGINNING ON AND AFTER TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2025 NO PERSON SHALL SIT, LIE, SLEEP OR ALLOW ITEMS TO REMAIN IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY WITHIN 500 FEET OF 1400 WESTWOOD BLVD ITEMS PLACED IN THE ENFORCEMENT ZONE WILL BE REMOVED BY THE CITY AND STORED FOR 90 DAYS BEFORE BEING DISCARDED. OWNERS MAY RETRIEVE ITEMS COLLECTED BY THE CITY BY CALLING 311 MONDAY - SATURDAY 8:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M. Signage posted on July 8, 2025 Resolution available using search term ā21-4118ā at https://cityclerk.lacity.org/lacityclerkconnect/
"'It doesnāt house people. It doesnāt help people. It is cruel and unusual.'
...Inaccuracies includ[ed] zones around an online school on Hilgard Avenue, a closed daycare on Charles E. Young Drive and an expired temporary ban near 99 Ranch Market."

"Of the 1,856 people the city contacted in 41.18 zones between 2021 and 2023, only two received permanent housing."

@SDGoal18: "'41.18 is never really an acceptable approach. The harms are so obvious, and the benefit is so counterproductive that I wouldnāt even consider that to be a viable option in any zone.'"

From @RANDCorporation for California's Fifth Climate Change Assessment: "As climate change increases both the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, people living unsheltered face acute and disproportionate risks.": climateassessment.ca.gov/272⦠@Cal_LCI
š NEW: LCI began to roll out California's Fifth Climate Change Assessment today!
Californiaās climate is changing, bringing rising temperatures, more extreme wildfires, declining snowpack and growing risks to communities across the state.
The newly released Fifth Climate Change Assessment brings together dozens of reports featuring the latest climate science, tribal knowledge and community perspectives to help California better understand climate risks and prepare for the future.
Key findings include:
š”ļø Rising temperatures: Californiaās average temperatures are projected to increase by 3.5ā4.3°F by 2050 compared to the 1981ā2010 baseline.
āļø Declining snowpack: Early April snowpack is projected to decrease by approximately 40% by mid-century, affecting water supplies, ecosystems and local economies.
š„ Growing wildfire risks: Wildfire smoke exposure and associated health risks are increasing, with disproportionate impacts on vulnerable communities.
The Fifth Assessment also highlights the importance of tribal knowledge, community-informed research and locally relevant climate data in strengthening resilience.
š These findings will help inform planning, policies and investments at the local, regional, Tribal and state levels, supporting science-based decisions that protect California communities.
