Cutter this, changeup that. I think the path for Payton Tolle taking his next step might be something that nobody is talking about For @OverTheMonster ⬇️

He’s saying he was fired because of the record, and the record could have been a few games better if they pitched. Crochet pitching injured cost them a few games, Chapman blew a save, and Whitlock was on paternity leave for a series. Flip a few of those and maybe he keeps his job
Why did Alex Cora get fired? He thinks it came down to how the Red Sox pitched in the first month of 2026: “Honestly, I feel like I got fired because we didn’t pitch in the month of April. As simple as that.” 🎥: @BBisntBoring

Cora said they weren’t aggressive enough in the zone early in the season. They threw 27% of their pitches behind in the count with Cora as manager. After he was fired, that number fell to 20%. ERA went from 4.44 to 3.36. Only the Yankees had a lower mark post-firing

Something about a lefty reliever who wears glasses on the mound is just right

What if you needed losses in there to get to 7 games? 1978 Game 163 (this is cheating, Bucky Dent) 2013 ALCS (bullpen cop) 2018 World Series (18 innings) 2021 ALCS (Laz Diaz) 1986 ALCS (Dave Henderson) 1975 World Series (Carlton Fisk) 2004 ALCS W (Comeback Complete)
We're doing a fun exercise @OverTheMonster today where we try and create the best Red Sox 7-Game postseason series using the franchise history. But there's two limitations: 1) Each selection within your best 7-Game series must correspond to the actual game it was during the series played. (So you can’t use a Game 5 and place it at Game 1 or Game 7 or whatever.) 2) You can only use one game per series, so you have to dip into seven different series to create the full list. (This means you’re going to have to make some hard decisions when it comes to the 2004 ALCS.) Here's my list: Game 1: 2004 World Series Game 2: 2013 ALCS Game 3: 2003 ALDS Game 4: 2004 ALCS Game 5: 2008 ALCS Game 6: 1975 World Series Game 7: 2007 ALCS (see the title of the article below) If anybody would like to include their submissions here (will check both replies and quote tweets), I'll include them in the tally.

By my count, winning teams are out-homering losing teams 40-16 in this postseason. The team that hits more home runs in a game is 19-4 (There were 7 games in which teams had equal home run totals)
Non-ball knowers: The team with the second least amount of home runs is two wins away from the World Series. They also had the best record in baseball. They’ve won four straight division titles, five of the last six. BuT hOmE rUnS aRe ThE oNLy KeY tO sUcCeSs! Dumb asses.

Can you put together the ultimate 7-game series for the Red Sox? @MattGross87 gave it a shot and learned something interesting: The Red Sox haven't really played a great Game 7 in their entire history. overthemonster.com/red-sox-c…

Ben is 8-10 since the start of the postseason. If you were betting $10 on each pick, you'd be up about $12.30. I'd hardly call that HOT

I requested my listening data from Spotify and playing with some data viz in Excel. I noticed that for some reason I listen to Frank Sinatra every October. No idea why that might be. The only annual event I have is a Halloween party, but I’m not in charge of music. Bizarre.

Aaron Boone loves managing like it’s a Disney movie. He brought Nestor Cortes in for the first time in a month in the 10th inning of the World Series, and now he brings Giancarlo Stanton with the tying run on 1st in an elimination game.
