For the 10th year in a row, I’ll be trying to raise some money for Movember. I’ve raised £2,694 in that time. Most of it came when doing a 62km walk to my dad’s grave last year. I’ve been scared about matching that feat. This year, I’m running at least 3km every day.

Was really noticeable. Came away thinking he was in complete control. Only thing I couldn't get my head around was why he DIDN'T take some golden first-time shot opportunities and then started taking WILD shots from places he's never scored from.
Martin Ødegaard had 115 touches vs Everton, the most by any Arsenal player in a single Premier League match this season. Skipper. 🇳🇴

That Robert Pires PFA Player of the Year season was ground-breaking. Look at this roaming, playmaking, finishing winger. Bloody hate cruciate injuries.
2001-02, taking it back 😍

You will love his ball manipulation on 1:45, @saundzo. THAT is ball mastery.

With Eze on AND Saka off (how often does Eze play left and Saka is not on the right) we saw more of Eze's ability to bait and ride contact a la Saka. Reminded everyone how good he is at protecting the ball. Hope we see more of that in the next few weeks.

Unable to watch, but following and listening closely. Liam Delap has 'dropped' the Archetypal Power Forward display. Bulldozing carries, charging towards the goal in central areas. Big sprints. Releasing the kraken from range.

This doesn't mean good or bad. But this is definitely a style of play.

Yasin Ayari creates so much chaos with his shooting. I can't quite explain it, but whenever I watch him he's consistently taking shots that just seem to cause more trouble. His goals are always super clean, but he just gets shots from the edge of the D and it makes things happen.

Growing up dreaming of being a footballer, the son of an England player & coach I never considered he was coaching me but the little sayings were so brief, memorable & accurate they left a lifelong impression that I still use in my coaching today 🔥⚽️

Manchester United seem to be a few years behind on everything.
Where does your team take its goal-kicks?

Everyone knows Jude Bellingham is brilliant. But how? Why? And if we understood these things, could we discover others who can break games open the same way? Inspired by the pre-World Cup doubters, @JakeEntwistle has been investigating exactly that. He sat down with the editor to discuss his analytical odyssey - and we covered England’s national football identity, Premier League intensity, team effects, repeatability, context, and data scouting’s general development. Sitting down with @tomocurr for a conversation about Jude Bellingham has turned into a 7,000-word transcript about verticality and how measuring repeated signature moves could be the next great Archetype concept (even if it's unlikely to be a new idea). scoutedftbl.com/decrypting-t…

Plenty of talent in the third tier. You have to navigate through the loans and reserve sides, but they are all attainable. Particularly important given the landscape of the transfer market, key findings from the latest UEFA report framed this article.
As prices go up, scouts must go down. The transfer market has split into four and young players are more expensive than ever before. For clubs looking to find value, remain competitive and take advantage of the increasing demand for young prospects, they must keep a close eye on the Big Five third tiers. Using @SkillCorner data, we have identified key attributes that are travelling up the ladder. These players are surviving the jump and, unsurprisingly, they cost less. Whether signing genuine third-tier breakouts, jumping early on a reserve player, or monitoring a successful loan spell, there is value and talent in abundance. Not every third tier is the same. England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany all have their quirks and traps. But keeping tabs on this enormous pool of young talent is becoming increasingly important as the Premier League spending fractures the market further. All of this and more in our latest data dive: scoutedftbl.com/mining-third…

Lovely read. I also love Ash’s commitment to crediting the work of others and his constant references to other thoughts. We all need to be more like that.
*NEW* In 2026, the tactical landscape of top-level football is decidedly different to what we've become accustomed to. For @ESPNFC, I explore how this has brought about new trends in each position across the pitch. Link in the next tweet.

A Striker’s ‘storyline’ is different to the rest of the team, he has to detach from the game & immerse himself in a ‘game within the game’, ‘cat & mouse’ duels with defender & goalkeeper, hiding in plain sight by looking disinterested or blindside out of his marker’s eye-line 🧵

Signing MLS prospects is going to become a very, very popular move. As for Cavan Sullivan, I thought he was very much an 'industry plant' and did pay too much attention to him initially. Recent work has forced me to reconsider, this article in particular. Sensational work.
He's here. Two decades after Freddy Adu, America finally has the superstar it craves. His name is Cavan Sullivan. But to understand what he means to the country, writes Catalina Bush, you must understand all that's come before: the heartbreak, the failures, and the crushing weight of being an American icon. This is an odyssey through American soccer history, national storytelling, and a breakdown of the extraordinary young man at the heart of it all. American Idol: scoutedftbl.com/cavan-sulliv…
