SITTING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE GUNā¦
Iām not writing for likes or attention. Iām writing because IāVE LIVED IT!
I grew up in South City Projects in Tallahassee, raised by a single mother who did everything she could to give her boys a better life.
In 1992, my little brother Fred was killed at just 18 years old. One bullet changed our family forever.
So when I hear people saying, āLock up the parents,ā I ask: Do you really think my mother wanted to bury her son?
Yes, I made it out of South City and into the NFL, but people will never know the hell I went through to survive.
After football, I spent over 20 years coaching and working in education, trying to save young people.
WHY? BECAUSE I COULDNāT SAVE MY LITTLE BROTHER!
Sports saved my life. Coaches believed in me. But today, too many children are being punished instead of being reached.
YOU HAVE TO LOVE CHILDREN TO REACH CHILDREN!
Gun violence isnāt just a parenting problem. Itās a community problem, an education problem, and an American problem. We all must be accountable.
To the families affected by the FAMU Homecoming tragedy, my prayers are with you.
Iām 55 years old, and God has blessed me beyond my dreams. But no NFL contract, championship, or amount of money can bring Fred back.
I MADE IT OUT OF SOUTH CITY, BUT SOUTH CITY WILL NEVER LEAVE ME!
We must stop pointing fingers and start saving our children. ALL CHILDREN!
Rest in peace, Fred. I will never forget you. ā¤ļøšš¾

Three pages of what reads like AI-generated slop just to tell us absolutely NOTHING. Lol. Who the hell approved this? This is lazy, insulting, and quite frankly embarrassing.
Iām so damn tired of watching the people running Florida State confuse indecision with patience and incompetence with being methodical.
We donāt need another statement telling us you understand our frustration. WE KNOW YOU KNOW. We need you to grow a pair and actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
And this bullshit about making the right decisions in the right order? Give me a break. You donāt get credit for being deliberate when your inability to make a decision is actively destroying the program.
Look at our recruiting class. Look at the roster. Look at the complete lack of player development. You cannot keep treating the transfer portal like an annual emergency room and pretend thatās a sustainable way to build a championship program. The portal is supposed to supplement your roster, not serve as your entire damn recruiting strategy.
And hereās what really pisses me off. Every day you drag your feet, youāre screwing BOTH Mike Norvell and whoever eventually replaces him.
If you believe in Mike, give him the money, resources and institutional support to succeed. But if you see what the rest of America sees, then have the balls to cut bait.
Personally, I think weāre WELL past the point of salvaging this tenure.
And whoever comes next deserves more than inheriting another unnecessary disaster because the adults in charge were too scared to make a difficult decision.
The next coach needs time to evaluate the roster, determine who stays and who goes, assemble a staff, establish relationships with high school recruits and get ahead of portal negotiations that are ALREADY happening.
You cannot do all that shit in two weeks in December.
And yes, thereās a national championship-winning coach who knows Tallahassee, knows the recruiting footprint, understands the expectations and has already demonstrated he can win at the highest level here. You can debate whether Jimbo is the answer, but acting like that experience wouldnāt be valuable right now is ridiculous.
Whether itās Jimbo or somebody else, GIVE THE NEXT MAN A DAMN CHANCE.
And spare me the financial excuses. Every decision has a cost, including doing absolutely nothing. Lost recruiting classes, declining attendance, donor fatigue and another year of roster turnover all have financial consequences. Avoiding a buyout today doesnāt mean youāre saving money tomorrow.
Thatās not financial discipline. Thatās kicking the can down the road and hoping somebody else deals with the consequences.
Iām tired of watching Florida State operate like weāre afraid of our own expectations.
Three national championships. A national fanbase. One of the most recognizable brands in college football. And somehow weāre begging our own administration to act like winning actually matters.
And donāt you dare hide behind the players. Those young men deserve our FULL support. But supporting them doesnāt mean we have to tolerate the incompetence of the people making decisions above them.
Stop with the bullshit statements. Stop hoping things magically fix themselves. Stop embarrassing yourselves and, by extension, the rest of us.
Do your damn jobs. Make the big-boy decisions youāre paid to make. And if you donāt have the stomach for it, maybe somebody else needs to start making decisions about YOUR future.
This is Florida State. Start acting like it.

In my role as co founder and managing partner of Draftline I speak with NIL and rev-share decision makers and NFL agents every day. I love this program, so here's a direct message to FSU leadership, boosters and fans.
Bobby Bowden built a standard at Florida State: 14 straight top-five finishes, two national titles, and a program recruits grew up dreaming about. Every decision made in Tallahassee should protect that standard.
Right now, leadership is lowering it. 10ā21 since the 2023 ACC title. 14 straight losses away from Doak. And the reason we keep hearing for accepting it is the buyout.
The actual numbers say we can't afford to keep
Here's what the cost of losing:
⢠~$15M a year in added roster (suck tax) and staff spend (no one wants to coach with a dead man walking)
⢠$7ā8M a year in ticket revenue a winning season or new coach excitement brings back
⢠Season tickets down 18% since 2023
⢠Booster donor base down 17%
⢠2027 recruiting class 43rd nationally, with zero offensive linemen
⢠No permanent AD since September, and our CFO/Rev Share whiz kid just left for Iowa State
That's $22M+ a year spent to not fire Norvell.
And the upside is real. The ACC lets schools keep 100% of their playoff money. A deep CFP run plus a full Doak is worth $20ā28M in a single season.
The buyout is a one-time cost. Drift compounds: in recruiting, in the portal, in donor checks that don't renew.
To leadership: make the decision now. Waiting costs more than it saves.
To Stephen Ponder and @SeminoleBooster: Instead of worrying about what people are posting about you itās time to line up the commitments now, so the buyout doesn't come out of the operating budget that funds our other 20 sports.
To fans: renew, show up and stay loud. The next coach is selling this program to recruits the day he's hired.
We've been here before, and Florida State always comes back. But it takes a decision not hiding. #Noles
