You wanna know why I keep bringing up Helton? Because weâre hopefully gonna have to hire again soon and some of you, many of you, still havenât taken the time to really ask some hard hitting questions.
Replying to @TheJasonKane
I give him credit for turning our culture from a chaotic mess into a honorable, legitimate team. I hope you realize how bad of a mess it was when he took over, and for him to take us to a couple conference championships and a rose bowl is pretty impressive. You can say âbut but Samâ all you want but the fact is thatâs what you expect a good coach to do with a qb like that, not to mention he was responsible for developing him. It became clear he would probably be out coached by the big guys in the industry and that was a problem. He wasnât going to be the long term solution, but he couldâve continued to have a baseline of success until all the other problems with the university and again, covid, were figured out. We ran him out in a panic and really it was unnecessary and led to this mess. Instead of asking why was Helton the most successful coach since Carroll and building on those qualities with the next hire, we foolishly chocked it up to Sam and Sarkâs recruiting class, believing as long as the next guy could recruit then thereâd be that success again. But itâs not that simple, clearly. There were intangibles that gave Helton successâintangibles people like you still either dismiss or donât care to realize. And itâs sad because we probably will make a similar hiring mistake until we let our bizarre hatred for the guy go and ask some of those thought provoking questions.
USC is likely going to fail to make the CFP or contend in the Big Ten this year despite the following:
- Being #1 in returning production & having the most returning starters in CFB
- Oregon, Michigan, Penn State and Washington all being awful
- Ohio State without their starting QB for half the season
- Getting 2 of their 3 biggest games of the year at home
This is a complete disaster for Lincoln Riley. This has to be the final straw.
In an alternative universe we wouldâve patiently kept Helton while LA worked its way through covid. Jackson Dart probably wouldâve stayed and won another conference championship and weâd have made our first playoff appearance. We wouldâve probably been bounced in the first round and the fan base would be justifiably upset that Helton just canât win those really big games against the top teams in cfb. Eventually, With the program right on the brink of being a championship contender, we wouldâve brought a head coach to replace Helton. It wouldâve been someone who has experience taking a close team that extra mile to glory.
We were probably 2 or 3 years too quick with the axe and as a result, weâre close to being right back to needing a Helton like figure to right the ship again. Weâve gone backwards. Canât believe we signed a 10 year deal. Like anyone out of their depth in a job, itâs Only gonna get worse the longer it goes.
Last thing for tonight, help me understand how 5 star or highly recruited offensive lineman get bullied like that all night from Wisconsin? Like I know itâs D1 BIG10 football, but still, like that?

A road win against a weak unranked Penn State team canât be your âsignatureâ win in year 5
24-17 L @ Minnesota 2024
27-24 L @ Michigan 2024
29-28 L @ Maryland 2024
34-32 L @ Illinois 2025
24-7 L @ Wisconsin 2026
These road losses over the past 3 years I think pretty much sums up whatâs wrong with LR. Iâd put the Tulane and TCU bowl losses to go along with them, but I donât like to judge coaches the same for bowl games. Anyway, Watch those 5 games if youâre at all still confused.
That decision felt panicked and maybe even out of spite. What are we doing? That couldnât have been the highest percentage play..
Oregon fans, I know a guy if you wanna have your eyes removed so you donât have to watch your sorry excuse for a team anymore. Lmk
Cowardice from Michigan. Your season is over and youâre at home, go for it! No one needs OT in this game.
Iâm no medical expert, but I hear no one mentioning the elephant in the room. If blood clot risks can be increased by the physical punishment players endure in football, and putting them on a long flight immediately afterward is the worst thing you can do, then these international games seem worth reconsidering. If Jalenâs condition worsened because of the trip home, the NFL and NFLPA may need to take a hard look at Goodellâs master plan here. The reward may not justify the risk.
Well so long as Evan felt bad about it and wasnât trying to hurt anyone, not sure he needs any punishment.
So the question now becomes does Notre Dame drop out of 12 or have a chance to be inside 12 at the end of the year given their only tough matchup of the year was a L?
Sad how everyone can see it, even the blind guy, yet Oregon fans canât. Tells you itâs a heart issue not an eye issue.
Oregon coach Dan Lanning's protection of Bear Alexander after his punching of UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava is hypocrisy at its ugly worst. usatoday.com/story/sports/ncâŚ

"Making more money" is a terrible reason to expand the college football playoff.
You could also make more money putting a rollercoaster in Yosemite national park. You'd ruin Yosemite.
Itâs funny because when SCâs player made a mistake, there was ownership, accountability, discipline, stuff real men do when mistakes are made. Gotta lot of respect for that. I can get behind that. Thatâs being a Trojan.
When Oregonâs player made a mistake, thereâs been nothing but denial, excuses, hypocracy,, stuff that you see in a lot of other weak, sad parts of society. I guess thatâs being a Duck. Nice program.

Itâs not about Lanningâs cervical spine Uce. Itâs about Nicoâs.
Itâs not just the punch later. Itâs the head/neck twist in the instant before. Either lands most people in ER. Cspine injury can end a career & the playerâs life.
Stephens hit on Moore was way more a play on the ball than whatever this ish was. Lanning is a hypocritical coward, which bothers me way more than this play itself. Most of cfb has already come to terms with Oregon playing a dirty style of ball. Weâve experienced it for decades at USC. However, when the usual aggressors become pearl clutchers over a misfortunate timed hit as if it was the dirtiest thing theyâve ever seen and then two weeks later shrug off plays like this, itâs hard to take them seriously. Not that anyone actually was.
He grabbed his helmet with both hands, twisted his neck and threw him down before then punching above his left arm which was above the ball in Nicoâs belly. This is the type of shit people want you to believe Suh was doing.
