Matt Brittin told employees today that he wants the BBC to “be more Elvis,” by which he meant: “A little less conversation, a little more action.” Welcome to the Silicon Valley-isation of the BBC. deadline.com/2026/10/bbc-sil…
Some intriguing stuff on Doctor Who's future. The BBC has put the show out to tender and bidders are emerging. Could Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio take control of the TARDIS? Might the show head to Scotland? Or is the whole thing a fool's errand? deadline.com/2026/10/doctor-…

We have so little insight into what the government wants to do with the BBC during a seismic charter renewal, BBC News is having to re-heat an interview with the culture secretary that originally aired on The Media Show two weeks ago. xitter.cf/BBCNewsnight/status/21…
“Income is falling and that means the cuts have to bite somewhere.”
@katierazz asks Lisa Nandy MP whether she is surprised by the “scale” of cuts at the BBC, with the Culture Secretary adding “through the Charter we are determined to put the BBC on a sustainable footing.”
