#4D for programme communication:
1. Complex #construction
2. Constrained urban site
3. First class project team
Another model from our archives, working with the brilliant @WeAreMcAlpine at 21 Moorfields, London for @LandsecGroup
More real-world examples coming soon
Construction is tough. We face:
Cost overruns💰
Safety challenges⚠
Adversarial environments😠
Improved planning and control is the solution. Use 4D planning to:
Plan as a team💡
Reduce risks ☑
Manage time🕑
4D planning is not complicated. It's a method that pays for itself many times over if you're doing it correctly. Don't focus on the outputs. Just start.
▶ Hire skilled modellers
▶ Make a basic plan for using it
▶ Do a pilot project (a complex one)
4D and reality capture ▶
Described as 'Google Earth on steroids', @sensat_ai helps project teams to see their infrastructure project and more confidently make the right decisions. Imagine this with ultra-detail 4D on top...
Bigger is better!
Don’t build ultra-high detail 4D models and then only review them on small screens. We've partnered with @MissionRoomLtd on recent projects, with brilliant results:
⚡ @Bentley_SYNCHRO interaction
⚡ Greatly improved engagement
⚡ Teams can work as teams
What happens when you combine ultra-high detail 4D models with Engineering Grade AR™ ?
Awesome results.
1️⃣ Contextual safety reviews: see your planned work on site
2️⃣ Real-world look ahead planning
3️⃣ Incredible on-site trade co-ordination

Large construction projects often go over time & budget. One cause for this - interdependency & variability of large networks of linked activities. 4D can help resolve this this by providing visual clarity.

Great first day of filming for @TheB1M’s next long form documentary, all about @HS2ltd — one of the world’s biggest #infrastructure projects. Lots of engineering, facts, controversy, details, analysis and amazing access coming your way later this summer. #construction #rail

Welcome to day 3 of the 4D Construction Group conference! Join us on Nov 10th. Register here - 4d.construction/events
Thrilled that on days 1+2 we welcomed 400+ guests from 52 countries, and next week looks even bigger.
#4D2020
If you've registered for our 4D Conference, tune in to avoid missing out, as only a few presentations will be recorded.
We start tomorrow & have 5 short talks + panel in each session. Plus opportunity to ask questions, join in polls, & meet speakers.

Does 4D give you Jedi abilities?
Absolutely. It allows teams to plan, experience, and rehearse the future. Surely this is a power all projects can benefit from?

Construction planning is better when we use models and data, and work as a team. It's not just about creating an animation to show the 'project being built'.
Join us next week for the 4D Construction Group's first online conference.

"4D" is a method of using geometry+data to plan and control construction.
Does this work? Is this too simple? Is there a better summary somewhere? Is there anything to add?

》What is 4D planning?
》Why are construction teams using this method?
》When can it add value?
David-John Gibbs, Chris Needham, and I answer these questions from our own project experience in this recent BIM+ article.
bimplus.co.uk/explainers/4d-…
Where would you position 4D?
Is it part of Information Management? (Or "BIM"?)
Or is it Planning?
Or part of Project Management?
Does it matter?

ALT Projects that are planned well are safer. Methods like 4D modelling improve construction planning, bring teams together, and provide a visual output that can be used in RAMS and site inductions. By planning sequences in detail, modelling logistics and access, and constructing virtually in advance, hazards can be identified, managed or avoided. In this panel, we'll explain what 4D modelling means to us, outline the Health and Safety benefits, and describe how we think 4D can be used to get these benefits.
