No need to get too far over our skis, but this is certainly the most offensively gifted USMNT that we have ever fielded. A far cry from the days of defending an hoping to counter or capitalize on set piece with size. They play with creativity and skill and everyone is healthy!
Just when you think you’ve seen what HS football has to offer, you go spot stats for a State championship game that saw the losing team score 41 and get beat by more than that number. Crazy day in Durham at the NCHSAA Championships! One that will go down in the history books!
Moving to 8 Classifications was always going to require a full paradigm shift. That did not happen in the way this process is being carried out. It is being done the same way it always has been done, and with mostly the same idea that it has been done in the past.
HSOT INSIDER: My main takeaway from the realignment proposal is this:
I have big concerns about the makeup of the proposed conferences, but I can't be sure because we don't have some critical information -- like how the playoffs will work.

Did we really just watch a pair of octogenarians running for President of the US argue on national television about their golf games?
God save the republic.
We quite literally used to do this (or a semblance of it). It’s called pre-determined brackets. People hated it so much that they wanted seeding and everything that comes with it, including taking days to find out if you are in.

Oh yeah I remember that. I know it won't happen but make every conference play a conference tournament & that's your first "round" of playoffs. The conference champ and runner up get seeded and bracketed to finish the playoff. Play tournament M-W, seed Friday, play next game Tue
You’re looking live at Reynolds Coliseum full of Wolfpack Fans on Friday night with a top 10 team on the mat for their side:
This is the most likely scenario (if FSU survives tonight in Charlotte). Just watching the FSU offense against a team that got boat-raced last week by Kentucky is enough to make that case pretty clear.
Death. Taxes. The Lions getting worked on Thanksgiving. #UnwantedTraditions

This really pokes a hole through the "NCHSAA endowment ($15 mil that could be used) is big enough to help athletic facilities across the state" theory.
This was $62 million and, although helpful, it didn't come close to helping the entire state teapawt.net/NickStevensHSOT/status…
Some NC high schools will be getting upgrades to their athletic facilities.
The new state budget has at least $62.8 million earmarked for high school athletics facility upgrades. 18 districts received money, ranging from $100k to $14.5 million.

I’m glad the state decided to help high schools with athletic facilities. Full stop.
I just find it interesting that the counties getting this funding are all tied to certain legislative leaders that made the biggest noise about the @NCHSAA. 🤷♂️

literally nothing transparent about way House & Senate GOP members jammed a provision in insurance bill to railroad final nail through @NCHSAA.
It is the furthest thing from transparent & par for the course for how McInnes, Sawyer & others have “negotiated” w/NCHSAA last 2 yrs.
Plus this …

He never played a game at NCCU because there was no season at NCCU. Saying that counts as one of his transfers is by itself lame. I don't even care why he left Kent State! This ain't hard. He's only played at one school - not bc of injury, bc the 1st school had no games!!

Seriously, can we just fast forward to the part where football is broken off from the rest of college athletics and regional conferences exist for other sports?
Because until then, everything else is going to be diminished in the service of TV execs' dream of NFL Junior.
Known for a long time that college sports wasn’t about the athletes. It’s past time for CFB to break away from other sports. No reason for a volleyball team or baseball team from Stanford or Cal to make multiple trips to the east coast for regular season conference play. #goACC
