@PeterSilliman Repent (Metanoia) means "change your mind." Repent (change your mind) and believe the Gospel. One has repented when they have believed the Gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Cor 15:1-4 KJV).
With regard to salvation, "repent" does NOT mean "turn from sins" aka "repent of sins" to get saved remain saved or prove one is saved otherwise salvation is by our works and GOD says salvation is not by our works. And if salvation was by our works, then we would all be on our way to hell since the standard is perfection.
Nobody is defending sin. Nobody is telling others to abuse the grace of GOD. Nobody is saying not to do good works. But no matter how obedient or disobedient a saved child of GOD is, they are still a brother or sister in Christ, a child of GOD (Eph 1:13-14, John 10:28, 1 John 5:11-13, Acts 20:28, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 1 Corinthians 1:18).

To have eternal life, the standard is perfection.
Well, we all have a problem because none of us has been perfect because we’ve all sinned.
I have good news though..
Jesus Christ was perfect! He lived the life we couldn’t, laid down His life in place of yours, taking on the punishment you deserve for your sins, and we get credited His perfect righteousness if we just trust that He did that for us and that He’s the only reason we’ll make it to Heaven

It’s no coincidence that the believers who are truly resting in Christ alone for their salvation, the ones who aren’t trying to merit anything or highly focused on sin are usually the ones quietly doing the most good and producing the real fruit.
They’re not obsessed with rules or constantly looking inward at their failures. Their eyes are on Jesus. And because a new heart was given to them, something actually changes in them. Desires shift… love and service start flowing out without all the striving and performing.. obedience just comes naturally. It’s not forced, it just happens. That’s what grace does. It doesn’t leave you the same.
Praise God! It’s Him who works in us both to will and to work for His good pleasure!
