All great novels, in my opinion, share the following three qualities to varying degrees - they are:
- funny
- creepy
- sad
Let鈥檚 see how this Rougon-Macquart stuff all begins. Strange to read this, knowing what happens to some as yet unborn characters who star in the later books in the series.
'Her Majesty' by The Beatles. The first 'secret' song that was so secret millions of people heard it when they listened to an obscure album called *checks notes* 'Abbey Road' by The Beatles.
Ok,this is crazy, but... there is a sound in Revolution 9 by a band called The Beatles which is *exactly* like the sound John Hurt makes when the alien bursts out of his chest in the film 'Alien'.
Nerds please help me - am I going mad or could the sound in 'Alien' be the same?
Lennon is always on about how 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' didn't deliberately spell out LSD. Fine bro - but don't tell me the song wasn't still about some sort of acid trip experience!
Just finished this. Zola can always be relied upon to do his thing. Another gloomy slice of France during the Second Empire.
People moaning about the supposed sky-cam incident are engaging in as-of-yet unplummed depths of cope. Long row home, Norway!
Trying to figure out the most ridiculous World Cup group match to watch. I'm thinking Jordan vs Algeria at 4am on a Tuesday must be up there.
If I was a student with a massive bong, I can imagine watching that.
I think this is the saddest film I have ever seen. Do NOT watch this if you're feeling emotionally ropey. It's very well made. Mescal is great and the kid is the best child actor since, I don't know, E.T.
Periodic reminder that Radiohead is the second best band of all time.
Vague poster, moi ?
The Beatles are obviously number 1
Screw it, I'm diving straight in with this. Will require the use of a lot of Google translate, but I know the book inside out so it should be possible.
IL FRATELLO MAGGIORE TI OSSERVA
Got this in the post. I hope it complements rather than hinders my attemps to learn French. I have noticed that the masculine/feminine nouns seem to align in both languages. Perhaps there are exceptions.
