Thanks @JCI_insight ! So excited to publish our work on #myeloid IL1 receptor in #glomerulonephritis. @aces_duke @Duke_Anesthesia @DukeKidney
Presenting a novel axis that can fine-tune the immune response to glomerular and tubule cell damage:
Jamie R. Privratsky @JamiePrivratsky & team @DukeKidney @Duke_Anesthesia identify a novel myeloid cell-endothelial cell immunoregulatory axis, supporting a model whereby myeloid IL-1R1 activity constrains ER stress–mediated EBI3/IL27 secretion, thereby attenuating type I IFN expression in kidney endothelial cells and ameliorating
autoimmune nephritis.
The figure shows anti-IFNAR1 therapy abrogates kidney injury after NTS nephritis in mice lacking IL-1R1 specifically in myeloid cells (bottom); littermate controls (top).

A first in the field to show that NAD+ biosynthetic impairment is a quantitative feature of pediatric #AKI
Hopefully opens possibilities for B3 based trials to prevent or improve this important condition in children
AKI is highly prevalent among hospitalized children, but there is no treatment. Read this Original Article on pediatric AKI associated w/impairment in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) metabolism. @AmandaJClarkMD

We are building a unique program here that integrates the clinical and laboratory efforts to understand and treat patients living with neuropathic pain. Check it out. I welcome any feedback. #neuropathy #pain #neuromodulation #translational
I should add, we will be hiring soon for a scientist to lead our in vivo preclniical animal studies and #iPSC sensory neuron initiatives. Exciting times ahead. Shoot me a message if you want to find out more.
