🇺🇸 SOME HEROES CARRY WEAPONS INTO BATTLE. OTHERS CARRY THE COURAGE TO SAVE THEIR BROTHERS. On November 8, 1965, deep in the jungles of Vietnam, U.S. Army medic Lawrence Joel showed the world what American courage truly looks like. When his unit came under devastating enemy fire, Joel didn’t run from danger. He ran toward the wounded. Shot twice, bleeding and suffering from his own injuries, he continued crawling through enemy fire to reach his fellow soldiers. For nearly 24 hours, he refused to abandon the men who desperately needed him. His extraordinary bravery earned him the Medal of Honor. But what moves me most isn’t the medal. It’s the kind of man he was. A man who valued the lives of his brothers more than his own safety. A man who understood that wearing the uniform meant something greater than himself. A man who refused to quit when quitting would have been understandable. To Lawrence Joel and every American veteran who has ever put their life on the line for this country, THANK YOU! Thank you for the sacrifices most of us will never fully understand. Thank you for the freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Thank you for answering your nation’s call when so many others never had to. We can never repay that debt, but we can spend our lives making sure your courage and sacrifice are never forgotten. GOD BLESS LAWRENCE JOEL! GOD BLESS EVERY AMERICAN VETERAN! AND GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! 🇺🇸🦅 FREEDOM ISN’T FREE. NEVER FORGET THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO PAID THE PRICE.
