Murphy Robinson: "Amendment 87’s tax increase would take Colorado from one of the lower-tax states in the country to the ninth-highest top rate, in the same company as California, New York and New Jersey. This will directly impact Colorado’s ability to attract investment, create jobs and retain talent." #copolitics

I don’t post much about #Colorado politics because I have very few, if any, Colorado followers. I’m making an exception because this issue is common across the country.
Amendment 87 is a ballot measure to drastically increase state income tax. If it passes, Colorado will dive even deeper into economic dysfunction as successful individuals and small and medium sized businesses leave or avoid the state.
As the article points out, many or most of the businesses that would be impacted by A87 don’t pocket the profits, but reinvest them into the business to hire more employees and create more wealth in the state.
Colorado has already gone from being in the top ten most business friendly states to 25th. A87 would push Colorado down to near the bottom.

No on 87; it will hurt state’s businesses, economy denvergazette.com/2026/10/27…
The non-partisan tax foundation found that high income taxes hurt growth. It’s critical that Colorado voters reject Amendment 87 which would make Colorado the 9th highest taxed state. It’s not to late to vote No on amendment 87
States with no individual income tax (Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Nevada, and others) consistently rank among the strongest gainers, while states with the highest top rates (California at 13.3 percent, New York at 10.9 percent, and New Jersey at 10.75 percent) dominate the list of largest losers.

Politics is the art of the possible, and the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit gives governors a remarkably simple way to expand educational opportunity.
As Peter Murphy of @Invest_InEd explains in @WashTimes, Democratic governors @jaredpolis and @GovKathyHochul are demonstrating how the FSTC can transcend traditional political divides.
With the federal framework already in place, governors can open the door to new, privately funded scholarships for public and private school students simply by opting in.
Murphy highlights Polis's remarks at a @Kennedy_School conference about using these scholarships for tutoring and additional instruction.
Major public policy progress doesn't always require years of legislative battles. Sometimes the opportunity is already there just waiting for someone to act.

This is sick stuff. Amy Acton's enemies are trotting out her estranged and allegedly abusive mother to malign her.
If anything, I feel more sympathetic to Amy Acton after watching this. I suspect I'm not alone!
BOMBSHELL: Amy Acton’s own MOTHER just dropped a devastating ad warning Ohio NOT to elect her daughter.
She calls Amy a habitual liar who “needs help” and is totally unfit for governor.
When your own mother begs voters to stay away, it’s OVER.
Must watch! 👇
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Acton’s stepfather abused her from age 9 to 12 and was criminally charged, and the family lived in a tent in winter. Her brother confirms they were removed from their mother’s custody. Acton’s stayed married to the stepfather until he died.

I was shocked, and pleased, to learn that the Denver Post Editorial Board is recommending a no vote on Amendment 87.
To put it simply, they fear 87 will do more harm than good for Colorado.

Colorado has something awesome called the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. Among other things, it protects a simple principle: everyone pays the same state income-tax rate. If your income doubles, your tax doubles. Seems reasonable, right?
Amendment 87 would repeal that protection and nearly double the top marginal state tax rate while modestly reducing the lowest rates.
Under the new rules, doubling your taxable income could mean a state income-tax bill nearly four times what you’d owe on your current income today.
To me, this looks like a blatant attempt to buy votes: the majority votes themselves a tax break funded by much higher taxes on a small minority.
And it hits startups especially hard. Founders and early employees often spend years building something before receiving a substantial payoff from selling their shares after an IPO or in an acquisition. A decade of work with no guarantee of success can produce a payout counted as income in a single year—and taxed at much higher rates.
I’ve spent a decade building Boom in Colorado, on track to create hundreds of high-paying jobs. Colorado’s tax fairness was one reason I chose to build here. Now voters are being asked to change those rules and take a much larger share of a potential taxable payoff from that work.
Should I have built Boom in Texas, which has no state personal income tax? Should the next ambitious founder choose Colorado or somewhere else?
Colorado is at a crossroads. Do we want to stay true to our OG spirit of rugged independence, freedom, and fairness—or make Colorado a less attractive place to build?
Punishing success is morally wrong and bad policy to boot. We should be celebrating the people who build new things and create new wealth for themselves and others. Their work gives us companies, products, and jobs.
Let’s keep Colorado as one of the best places to live, build, create, and innovate—and to enjoy the rewards of our hard-fought efforts.
I’m voting no on Amendment 87.

Today marks an important milestone for Infleqtion and for Colorado’s growing quantum ecosystem.
We officially opened the Colorado Quantum Innovation Center, our new global headquarters in Louisville and a new anchor for “America’s Quantum Peak.” It was an honor to celebrate the ribbon cutting alongside Governor Jared Polis (@GovofCO) U.S. Rep. Brittany Pettersen (@RepPettersen) Louisville Mayor Chris Leh (@CityLouisvlleCo) CU Boulder Chancellor Justin Schwartz (@CUBoulder, @Chancellor_JS) and Elevate Quantum CEO Jessi Olsen.
Governor Polis highlighted what this moment means for the state:
“Colorado is leading America’s quantum future, and Infleqtion’s new Quantum Innovation Center is further proof that our growing technology sector draws more businesses to our state and strengthens our economy.”
Rep. Pettersen underscored the strength of the ecosystem behind that momentum:
“Colorado is the epicenter of America’s quantum future, and Infleqtion’s new Quantum Innovation Center is proof of what’s possible when we invest in research, talent, and industry together.”
We’re proud to deepen our roots in Colorado and help build the research, talent, and industry ecosystem needed to move quantum technology from scientific discovery to real-world deployment.
