The restoration of law and order in America is happening in large part because of President Donald Trump, in particular, his insistence that immigration laws be enforced and criminal illegal aliens be deported.
Make no mistake, if the Left seizes power, the borders will open once again, criminal illegal aliens will breathe a sigh of relief, Americans will suffer a surge in violent crime, and the media will be quick with the excuses, writes @JarrettStepman.

Replying to @JarrettStepman
@JarrettStepman: "...[ICE} nabbed over 2,000 illegal aliens in New York in July & August as part of Operation Rotten Apple—with no help from...Mayor Zohran Mamdani, of course. Among those arrested were 'murderers, rapists, pedophiles, drug traffickers, and violent assailants.'”

If you merely paid attention to the legacy media in recent weeks, you’d think that the French riots were only a scuffle between students and police, with perhaps a few “ultra-left” agitators, and that the only negative takeaway from the whole thing is that—horror of horrors—this could help the Right.
The videos of young men of very recent arrival, holding foreign flags, show that the media’s insistence that mass immigration has absolutely nothing at all to do with what’s happening is obviously nonsense, writes @JarrettStepman

This is like communist China but with a twist. Instead of just locking up people for criticizing leaders they prosecute for comments making particular groups possibly uncomfortable, even if those groups aren’t involved. It really is a kind of democratic totalitarianism.

This going to wind up making the fraud in Minnesota look like a small pickpocketing ring.
My latest, on the French riots.
“French culture doesn’t exist in and of itself; there is no such thing as a single French culture. There is culture in France and it is diverse.”
That was French President Emmanuel Macron in 2017, putting his own spin on the insipid “diversity is our strength” mantra that’s been the thoughtless creed of Western elites for more than two decades.
Now France, like so many other Western countries, is reaping the whirlwind of that shallow, misguided ideal. Riots are breaking out all over the country, writes @JarrettStepman.

Mr. Macron, the people you are fecklessly asking to stop burning down your country hardly understand the language you speak, nor do they care. There are lessons you refuse to learn, and so France will continue to burn.

A reminder of how irrelevant the Economist has become.
Smaller countries need to prepare for a dangerous world. They should look to Canada (and its prime minister) for an answer on what to do bit.ly/4zwKfVg

For years, leftists have tried to rewrite the story of Christopher Columbus. @DouglasKBlair sat down with @JarrettStepman to take a closer look at just the facts.

The Left’s institutional and cultural arsonists want you to hate the Italian explorer who discovered America. But historical accuracy and the facts should still matter.
It’s important to remember the TRUTH about Columbus Day. ⬇️

ICE needs to get out of NYC. Mamdani says you don’t have permission to be here and anyone who doesn’t have permission to be in a place must leave that place immediately.

NEW: ICE announces that the Dominican criminal illegal alien shot by ICE in the Bronx yesterday previously fled from ICE in September, and ICE didn’t pursue. Yesterday, ICE says they tried to block him in with several vehicles and he tried to flee again by ramming the ICE cars. ICE says they also had a detainer on him on a prior arrest last year, but NYC released him and ignored the detainer.
ICE says because he’s a known flight risk, they now have him in detention outside of New York.
DHS Sec. Mullin then blasts NYC Mayor Mamdani for referring to the alien as a “New Yorker”, and for running to the microphones about this, but having nothing to say about the attempted stabbing murder & robbery of a NYPD officer by two Dominican illegal aliens last week.

A fascinating essay.
Anyone thinking about or working in or around elite formation, education, and networking should read and contemplate the lessons here.
It proves, among other things, the necessity and virtues of MORE PARTIES, properly done and attended.
The elites of Victorian Britain got up late, drank ceaselessly, worked short hours, partied through the night, and knew nothing about science, technology or engineering. And yet, by their own lights, they were hugely effective.
worksinprogress.co/issue/the…
The Victorians are often held up as a model against the supposedly soft, feckless, humanities-educated elites of today. But I argue that the genius of their system may have been its drastic weighting towards soft skills, team-building and intra-elite networking:
- A Victorian’s gentleman’s office hours typically began about 11am and finished about 5pm, including a multi-course lunch with wine.
- Upper-class Victorians drank ceaselessly. Conduct guides recommended four or five glasses of wine at dinner *for married women*. Port was often served in pints.
- Party culture was intense and nocturnal. Balls started at about 10pm, peaked after 1am, and continued till dawn. During the social season, bankers, judges and politicians might go to several balls per week.
- Elite Victorians learnt almost no STEM at school or university. At least half of class time was given over to ancient languages, often as much as 80 percent. One leading educationalist remarked that it was not worth teaching science to gentlemen because it does not involve ‘continued reasoning’.
- Sports and character formation were valued far above transmitting facts. A top headmaster described his school’s priorities as ‘First – character, second – physique, third – intelligence, fourth – manners, fifth – information’.
This cannot have made elite Victorians more productive individually, but maybe the dense social and emotional network it created helped them to work as a sort of extended team.
Perhaps we should think again about what makes groups of people effective.
Honestly, it’s hard to be surprised by this statement. Mamdani is popular with the new New Yorkers and this is what you can expect now. He’s not at all concerned about blowback.
This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.
