Week 6 kicked off with its first lecture by @Javi_4B at @Solana Fall School. The presentation was titled “Why Are We Here?” @Javi_4B started by introducing three terms: decentralization, permissionless, and trustless — and told us, “Hold on to these, we’ll come back to them at the end.” From there, he introduced the concept of the Tragedy of the Commons and what it actually means. Then came a fascinating journey through the history of money from barter systems to stones, cowrie shells, whale teeth, and eventually metal coins and the paper money we use today. He connected this evolution to the shortcomings of our current financial system, how blockchain enters the picture, what utility it actually provides, and most importantly, what we can build and do with it. The whole presentation was so smooth and interesting that I didn’t even blink. I just thought if my college professors gave presentations like this. My whole college life would’ve looked very different.
