“I used to think I should do my best so that I wouldn’t have any regrets, but I realized regret follows no matter what you do,” he said. “Now I think I should just do the best I can, even if I end up regretting something.”
His longer-term ambition is less about a particular chart position than making music capable of capturing the era he is living through.
“I’d like to make a song that can express the time I’m living in,” he said, pointing to Dean’s “Instagram” as an example of a song tied closely to a particular moment. “I want to make something that can represent the emotions of this era and resonate with a lot of people even as time passes.”

While R&B remains his musical anchor, “Chptr. 1” is expected to open the door to more musical experimentation in subsequent installments, according to Jay B. For future EPs, Jay B mentioned that he wants to explore a variety of genres, and he is particularly interested in alternative R&B and music that manipulates his familiar vocal tone through effects and other production techniques.
“I want to try more experimental music,” he said. “My vocal tone doesn’t necessarily have to come through exactly as it is. I’d like to experiment with distorting it or transforming it into different tones to show different sides of myself as an artist.”

“following stop stop it, which has become an essential idol challenge, are there any other songs or choreographies that make you instinctively want to dance along, and that you think would be great for a challenge?”
🌴 there’s ‘lullaby’, which taerae did. and ‘if you do,’ too. i think that’s a really good song. actually, the GOT7 songs whose vibe i like are ‘girls girls girls,’ ‘stop stop it,’ and ‘if you do.’
the songs i feel don't really suit me are ‘a’ and, definitely, ‘just right.’ sometimes i wonder what gave me the confidence to do those songs back then
🐥 so you clearly have songs you dislike and songs you like
🌴 it’s not that i dislike them. but when i was performing them, i kept wondering, “is this really right for me?” i didn't feel very confident about it
🐥 nowadays, old songs sometimes go viral again because of dance challenges. I think that could definitely happen with your songs, too. ‘stop stop it,” for example
🌴 i’m really grateful. i’m so grateful, but i don't know how it started in the first place. i keep wondering, “how did this happen?” it's not like we went around saying, “hey, ‘stop stop it’ is the trend now!”
🐥 exactly. these days, an artist might suddenly do a challenge, and it blows up out of nowhere, bringing the trend back again
🌴 that’s what happens. i’m genuinely so grateful, but i was just honestly curious. where did this even start?

JAY B returns with the title track "Honeydew" 🍈
JAY B of GOT7 is making a comeback with "Honeydew," the title track of his third single album, *[Chptr. 1]*. This release marks the beginning of a new single series, distinct from the full-length and EP albums he has shared previously. The title track, "Honeydew," was written with his fans in mind; it features a harmonious blend of a rhythmic bassline, dreamy synth sounds, and a recurring whistle motif. 🎤

🐥 out of all the fruits, why did it have to be honeydew?
🌴 the syllables fit. you couldn't call it watermelon. you couldn’t say “water, watermelon~”
🐥 although i haven't been doing this for long, among the guests who have appeared, you're the most, the most manly
🌴 what?
🐥 you're the most easygoing
🌴 i’m just pretending to be like that
🐥 for the sake of looking cool?
🌴 but really, actually, earlier, i was thinking there are other three-syllable words, like orange, but this word fit the pronunciation best
🐥 honeydew. it really rolls off the tongue nicely
