"A military that is unprepared for urban operations across the broad spectrum is unprepared for tomorrow." – Ralph Peters, "Our Soldiers, Their Cities," Parameters, Volume 26, Number 1, 1995. Urban fighting (minutes 0:10 to 0:38) Trench/subterranean fighting (0:45 to 2:01).
A split-second reaction can mean the difference between life and death. This footage captures the brutal reality and unpredictability of modern combat.

Street-to-Street Fighting in Ramadi: U.S. Marines & Iraqi Army Under Sustained Insurgent Fire Ramadi, Iraq, May 20, 2006. U.S. Marines attached to the 2nd and 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Companies (ANGLICO), alongside soldiers from the 1st Brigade of the Iraqi Army, conduct a patrol through a neighborhood as insurgents open sustained small-arms fire. The footage captures the intensity of urban combat as Marines and Iraqi soldiers move through the streets, exchange fire, and take positions on rooftops. As the engagement continues, troops cross exposed areas between buildings while gunfire echoes throughout the neighborhood. Ramadi’s dense urban terrain presented serious challenges for troops operating in the city. Narrow streets, closely spaced buildings, and elevated positions created an environment where hostile fire could come from nearby structures with little warning. This combat footage documents the conditions faced by U.S. Marines and Iraqi Army soldiers during an urban patrol in Ramadi, showing the progression of the engagement from street-level movement to rooftop positions under sustained enemy fire.

Three years of war in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen have boosted tunnel warfare everywhere, including in peer-to-peer warfare. It goes beyond terrorism, beyond the Middle East, and beyond urban. @SapperGeologist @JaysonGeroux @JacobStoil @SpencerGuard @asherdigs

What @SpencerGuard @SapperGeologist @RichemondBarak @PalmerLuckey @traysartech have been saying for years is finally being seen on the battlefield. Subterra is a domain in itself, requiring expertise in many more elements than just tunnels: environment, hardware, personal equipment, maneuver, logistics, sensors, protection doctrine, and much more.

35/35 I cannot claim to be an expert – just a student – but I've completed an extensive section on SubT operations in the (draft) Canadian Army’s urban operations doctrinal publication. I discuss higher unit-level planning, groupings/tasks, tactics, sustainment & medical needs.
