Grassroots Jazz

We don’t appear to have a government with any plans to ensure our clubs remain open, so for the moment at least we are ON OUR OWN. If you would like to see another club receive some help then please visit the Grassroots Jazz page and click ‘donate’. grassrootsjazz.com

Hull Jazz Club has just received the second grant from Grassroots Jazz. Dave Ellis has worked extraordinarily hard for years to keep this club running, in a completely voluntary capacity, and this will give him juuust a little more breathing room. grassrootsjazz.com

Get the chance to win Big Jim Sullivan’s Peerless ‘Monarch’ or one of loads of other prizes in the Grassroots Jazz raffle. It’s just a fiver a ticket, and I can tell you now that there are only 81 entrants at this point in time. I like those odds… raffall.com/373292/enter-raf…

The second Grassroots Jazz grant has just been issued to the Bebop Club in Bristol. To qualify for this payment each club has to massively increase their social media presence. I think Andy Hague was initially a bit daunted by this but he’s totally smashed it!

The first Grassroots Jazz payment has just been made to Norwich Jazz Club. The director Simon Brown has worked tirelessly for years to keep jazz alive and well in this little corner of the UK, often at personal expense. grassrootsjazz.com

Ronnie Scott's supplied 10 deluxe memberships for the Grassroots Jazz raffles and for that I am truly grateful. It’s heartwarming to see the most celebrated UK jazz club taking the time to give help to struggling regional clubs. Thank you, Fred, Paul, Sarah, and James. x

Massive thanks to all who entered the raffle and to all those who supplied the prizes: Fibonacci, Norma Sullivan, Cambridge Jazz Festival and Fundamental Changes. We raised £3085.59, 100% of which goes to UK jazz clubs. Visit grassrootsjazz.com to further support this cause

I know we’re all tired of seeing these raffles but if things stay the way they are I may as well have put this stuff on eBay. 3 amazing guitars, 3 Ronnie Scott's memberships, 18 Cambridge Jazz Festival tickets, 6 instructional books. There won’t be another one so PLEASE share.

Listen, friends. I need your help. There are currently four clubs asking for assistance from Grassroots Jazz. I currently have only enough money left in the charity to help just ONE off them, and it’s breaking my heart. The others WILL close if they can’t get any other help.
