Failure to respond decisively would risk further future escalation by #Russia and destabilizing degradation of deterrence in an already dangerous area.
US leadership is essential.
Russia’s drone strikes on Poland were a deliberate test of NATO’s resolve. Putin is betting on escalation as an excuse to drive this into full-scale war.
The U.S. and our allies must stand firm and not fall for Putin’s nefarious antics. The time is now for NATO to strengthen its capabilities and fortitude.
Spoke to @LBC about #Russia's drone incursion into #Poland and #NATO's response. While Russia's intent is not entirely clear, either they lost control of significant amount of aerial capability, or this was a test.

Russia has already pushed the boundaries with a range of grey-zone attacks in Europe--deliberate, but calculated to fall below the threshold of armed action triggering response.
1. DoD was never called the War Department.
Before 1947 there were two departments: War and Navy.
Navy had been a separate department since 1798. If the War Dept has successors, it’s the Army and Air Force Depts.
2. Congress establishes departments.
