👋 Hey, I'm @JeffWri!
I want to help you run farther than you ever thought possible and tell you great stories while you do!
Because if you run, you know that everything in life somehow connects back to running.
I've spent over 1,000 hours running in my life so far, and I'm just getting started.
If you want to get some practical running insights AND crazy stories, smash the follow button!
Fair warning should you follow me: I will try to talk you into a trail ultramarathon almost daily. (But I'll also give you the tools to get there.)
2023
>159 runs
>951.2 miles
>2 Half Marathons
>2 Ultramarathons
A few non-running things about me:
- I've been married for 7 years.
- I've got two kids.
- My wife has a cat that I do not claim as my own.
- I work as a pastor at a local church.
- I'm writing a book on asking great questions that will be released in 2024.
- I love tacos more than the average person.
My mentality during an ultramarathon:
> Run One Mile At A Time
> Comfort Is A Lie
> Cultivate the Mind, But Make Savage the Body
"One run can change your day. Many runs can change your life."
See you on the trails!
On pause.
This past season of writing online has been incredible. I've really enjoyed meeting people and sharing ideas.
Give me a few months. Gotta work on some things.
I'll be back.
"What distinguishes those of us at the starting line from those of us on the couch is that we learn through running to take what the days gives us, what our body will allow us, and what our will can tolerate." - John Bingham
If you had told me 2 years ago that in the next two years, I would:
- Run 2 half marathons
- Run 3 ultramarathons
- Publish my first book
I would’ve laughed in your face.
Two cheat codes to life:
- 5am
- Supportive spouse

Park Planners: Let's put up a sign that says, "Don't climb on this rock. It's dangerous."
Trail Runners: I'm literally going to climb on every rock I find for the next 35 miles.
We are not the same.
Leadership and fitness go together.
If you can't lead yourself in self-discipline, how can you ask others to have self-discipline?
Parenting is just running an ultramarathon but you're holding a diaper and wipes and it's just running through your house instead of mountain trails.
Hot take: The trendier the brand, the more I'm skeptical.
Give me the brands that have been in the game for fifty years!
When I started running, I would think about the whole distance the whole time.
After years of running, the magic is staying present in the moment.
Sometimes, you need a friendly face in the midst of the long efforts. That's what the aid station is for.
Or hallucinations...
