So incredible to have won this tonight. A massive thank you to the extraordinary scientists, volunteers and @BBCTwo for trusting us to make something that turned out to be so very special.
.@BBCTwo’s The Parkinson's Drug Trial: A Miracle Cure? wins the Science and Natural History Award for their “challenging, informative and emotionally powerful film” #RTSAwards

At Davos, Trump made the claim that wind turbines killed birds and urged everyone to dump them in favour of fossil fuels. But what are the facts regarding the cost to birds of wind turbines versus fossil fuels?

So much extreme stuff out there that effed-up dogs in the name of show-wins seem to barely register these days. But I'll keep on batting on. Italian Champion Neapolitan Mastiff Sócrate Di Casa Telemaco.

Dear Lewis Hamilton...when Roscoe died in your arms last Sunday night, millions of fans mourned with you.   Your love for Roscoe shone in every picture, every post, every trackside cuddle. But, Lewis,  if you truly love dogs – please don’t get another Bulldog. pedigreedogsexposed.blogspot…

And so it came to be.. The 1906 cartoon reflected concern at the time regarding the change in the Bulldog from a fit/athletic baiting dog to the crippled show dog. But check out the comments on the modern dogs pic... they give you hope. tinyurl.com/freakdogs

Which would you prefer? Top pic - the chocolate Lab that won the USA's most prestigious Labrador show "The Potomac"this year. One of her pups would cost thousands of dollars. Below: Roxy, IKC registered pet-bred Roxy, yours for £375 from my rescue (well, if she hadn't already been rehomed...)

American breeder who has totally lost the plot. Worse, they call this an *English* lab in the US. What an insult to the breed. instagram.com/reel/DG6qxaHRd…

Disgraceful breeding in London (UK). And n/one is doing anything about it because the UK's animal welfare legislation, despite fine words, is legally unenforceable bc the wording is so pants. @ConservativeAWF @BritishVets @RSPCA_PATeam @ALAWAnimalLaw @DefraGovUK

Yep, selective breeding of deer is a thing. (And NB the one on the right is ALSO a product of it - just by a breeder going for a different type of antler) Original post: facebook.com/sinkingcreekwhi…

The Swedish Kennel Club has led the way in many ways. Now, it's trying to persuade its 'brachy' breeders to produce more moderate dogs. Here are the proposals - compared to the Best of Breed winners at Crufts 2024. @TheKennelClubUK - your turn.

Utterly shocked, after SO much hard work, that the Advertising Standards Authority is using a Bulldog in a promotional campaign - in flagrant breach of advertising guidelines drawn up by the British Veterinary Association. Please sign (and share) this petition asking them to reconsider. change.org/p/advertising-sta…

Brilliant that this owner recognises the issue. Sadly too rare.

1st pic: St Bernard that played 'Båtsman' in the 1960s Swedish TV series 'Vi på Saltkråkan' (Life on Seacrow Island). 2nd pic: the dog in the remake currently being made. The morph shows - from the inside - the profound impact selective breeding has had on this breed.

So much awful hate towards @lilyallen for returning a rescue dog. 1) there'll be more to this story 2) the rescue needs to take some responsibility for the mismatch 3) it is better to call it a day than struggle on with the wrong dog.
