We are witnessing a genuinely extraordinary, and regionally quite deadly and destructive, period for extreme #weather in the United States. And, quite frankly, the fingerprints of #ClimateChange are all over what has transpired in recent weeks and may yet occur in coming days.

In the last decade, Californians have endured severe droughts, floods, historic wildfires, rising seas, and record temperatures all driven by #climatechange.
Learn how CA's Fifth Climate Assessment is helping us understand our state's climate vulnerabilities and incorporating the needs of our most impacted communities. 🌎⬇️
🌎 In honor of this year's #ClimateWeekNYC, we, alongside @CalSGC, @CalNatResources, @CalEnergy, and numerous expert and community partners, would like to formally introduce our work on California’s Fifth #ClimateChange Assessment (Fifth Assessment). 🤝
Worse and more frequent #extremeweather events and trends are impacting the state every year, making up-to-date information on #climate change essential for driving sound policy and investment decisions. 📈 The Fifth Assessment strengthens our understanding of climate change vulnerabilities in California through original research (#ClimateScience), new data products, and a series of regional and statewide reports to support on-the-ground implementation at the local, regional, tribal, and state levels, focusing on the needs of communities most vulnerable to #climateimpacts.
Please watch this short video introduction to California's Climate Assessment and sign up for the mailing list to learn more about ways you can get involved this #ClimateWeek and every week! 🔗lp.constantcontactpages.com/…

“As we confront worsening climate impacts in California, we realize that many other places across the world are in the same boat,” said Wade Crowfoot, California Natural Resources Secretary. “Governments like ours in regions with Mediterranean climates are battling intensifying droughts, extreme heat and wildfires. Now, through the Mediterranean Climate Action Partnership that we’ve come together to establish, we are helping each other adapt and better protect our people from these threats. This alliance will become even more important in the years to come.”
