My thought on this - translation itself is an art form, an act of creation. No translation can be said to be totally accurate. A translation is colored by the thoughts and ideas and priorities of the translator.

I love Wilsonās translation. For me, she complicates Odysseus as hero. She holds him more accountable for his actions through her language choices. Her work reaches beyond the academy, returning the Odyssey to popular - and populist - literature.
