Gig workers deserve employment status...which would provide them with: ✅ paid sick leave ✅ protected medical leave (in some states like CA, paid) ✅ Disability Insurance ✅ Workers Compensation if they contract Coronavirus at work
How can you imagine that working for somebody just a few weeks a year makes them an employee? Musicians work briefly for many dozens of people each year. ALL would deny unemployment or worker's comp claims even if we were on payroll. @LorenaSGonzalez

Real question to attorneys and theatre/opera folks: how did a directed play or opera with paid actors or musicians ever survive a challenge of employer Misclassification under the law before AB5? It’s hard to see how that could survive a Borello challenge.
A gross income minimum for AB5 to apply would be EXTREMELY useful and would protect small freelance businesses while still holding companies like Uber responsible. I suggest $150k. @LorenaSGonzalez

As long we get consensus in the next two weeks, we will be able to move our bill with urgency. I am moving something, so I am hopeful we can get language that protects side musicians. We also have put in language to provide relief for performances at various venues. 3/

A bad parking job was enough to send this old guy on a racist tirade yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of the Broad Stage in Santa Monica. In addition to the slurs, the man was yelling “Go back to South LA” and that the lady “didn’t belong here.” Crazy.
I've been listening to @AmericanBach Soloists for 20 years, and it's still special whenever Jeffrey Thomas sings. Thanks for all the great music!
