They are happy to import it from Russia but not the North Sea. Just mad posturing.

Hi @SteveWhiteRail . How on earth is this any kind of sensible service for customers… there’s a delay. Okay I get that. Then the train is called , we get on it, it departs. Then it turns out it is in fact cancelled and has been rebadged as the train that was meant to start 30 mins later. Okay. No real impact but weird. Then it’s announced that the train is running fast from tonbridge to Ashford and screw the customers who need paddock wood Marden etc. how is that any good at all for customers heading to those stations. It gets your rolling stock in a better place but it’s a disaster for the passengers who are less important than the others

Last night, Republicans lost the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and my home state of Texas, a conservative cornerstone for more than three decades, because our party forgot the basic rules of coalition politics:
1. Add, don’t subtract
2. Be likeable
3. Do what you promised
4. Character & integrity still matter

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

Now we'll finally learn what's in the Epstein files. Mike Johnson is no longer in a position to shut down the House in order to prevent votes on measures to force their release. It's time. It's past time.
No doubt @RishiSunak is still saying he removed any sense of an Irish Sea border. @BorisJohnson meanwhile denies there ever was one.

Well, I haven’t seen the U.K. as united, as they are over hating the John Lewis ad, for some time.
The DUP & Unionism generally indulged, elevated and amplified Jamie Bryson, and in return he's unleashed carnage and division.
There hasn't been a recent crisis within Unionism he hasn't instigated or made worse.
Until Unionism lances this boil, things will only get worse.

The whole Bowen Pies saga is recalling just how much huge swathes of Britain hate wealth and do not understand profit. The great irony being that it funds everything we have. Which is more than ever (collectively). Including “MPs”. It is this very pillaging of success and capitalism which is why progress and living standards are topping out now in Europe. A string of pie shops is not a “tycoon”, in the US it would be middle class ambition.

I wrote this article about how the Goldsmiths, Carrie Johnson and their friends in the animal rights movement destroyed the Tory rural vote. Ben never learns thecritic.co.uk/the-tory-rur…
Going out with friends to shoot (humanely and sustainably) a few birds such as pheasants, partridges or wood pigeons for the sport and the pot is just fine. The ritual around it can be a lovely thing.
But the industrial rearing of fat, antibiotic-soaked pheasants for mass release and shooting in batches of hundreds or thousands on blokey hospitality days is really very gross.

Closing a vital link that thousands of people rely on every day for seven months, just to fix the escalators, beautifully summarises where Britain has gone wrong as a country over the last decade.
📢 City Thameslink will temporarily close from 17 May to late December 2027 while all 10 escalators at the station are replaced.
When it reopens, customers will benefit from modern, more reliable escalators.

The logic of Reform’s stance on Poundland is that Government should intervene to negate/reclassify the seniority of debt and order of liabilities negotiated between private companies.
Trust me, Richard, the consequences of that wouldn’t be good for people, jobs or communities - the UK would become uninvestable.
Jeremy Westhead retweeted
Interesting how support is discussed for Poundland’s staff, while charitable independent schools close, costing jobs and disrupting children’s education. What determines which organisations and communities deserve government attention and support?

Quite. Why on earth are contractors allowed to get away with this ?
Donegall Square North. Isn’t this repair admirable? We must compliment the contractor @niwnews @little_pengelly
