@NavalAcademy graduates are also told (ordered, explicitly) to lie on reports. The navy has a CASREP system to report status. C1 (minor, needs paint) to C4 (major, ship cannot get underway).
No CO submits a C4 casrep. EVER. It's the end of a career.
It is so ingrained system wide that @USNavyNNPP and @NAVSEA have teams tour and inspect the boats to get reports totally outside the operational chain.

I have been asked about what is the Marine Corps doing about the Iwo Jima monument that was destroyed by the illegal at Quantico
This monument was built with private funds, so there will be no government funds to repair it.
In cooperation with the Base Commander and Marine Corps Headquarters, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to support the restoration of the monument. Their goal is to start restoration efforts as soon as possible.
I’m sharing this for all my Marine Corps, brothers and sisters who might want to help rebuild this monument and for any other American who would like to see it rebuilt.
