๐โก๏ธ Two NFL legends โ Julian Edelman and Andre Tippett โ will be inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
The virtual induction ceremony is scheduled for October 25, 2026.
What makes this event particularly special is that both athletes played for the same team โ the New England Patriots โ but their paths to Jewish identity were very different.
๐ Julian Edelman โ A Champion Proud of His Jewish Roots
Edelman spent 12 seasons in the NFL, won three Super Bowl championships, and became the first Jewish football player to be named Super Bowl MVP.
Throughout his career, he increasingly embraced and publicly celebrated his Jewish heritage. He visited Israel, spoke out against antisemitism, and, following the 2018 Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh, wore cleats featuring Hebrew inscriptions to honor the victims.
โก๏ธ Andre Tippett โ A Personal Journey to Judaism
Tippett is one of the greatest defensive players in Patriots history. He was selected to five Pro Bowls, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and remains the Patriots' all-time leader in sacks.
Unlike Edelman, Tippett was not raised Jewish. He grew up in the Baptist tradition but converted to Judaism in 1997 and went on to raise his children in the Jewish faith.
The induction of these two athletes into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame is significant not only for American football but also for the broader Jewish community.
Their stories represent two different paths to Jewish identity: one through embracing and publicly celebrating Jewish heritage, and the other through a conscious and personal decision to adopt Judaism.
Both athletes achieved extraordinary success in the NFL, a league where Jewish players have historically been relatively uncommon in the spotlight.
From a kibbutz in central Israel to a Cleveland Cavaliers training camp โ Noam Yaacov is writing the next chapter of Israeli basketball.
The 21-year-old Israeli-Danish point guard just signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cavs, earning a chance to show what he can do in the NBA preseason and open a path through the G League or beyond.
After a breakout season in Belgium where he averaged roughly 17 points and 6 assists and helped Oostende reach the finals, the rising star is now in an NBA organization.
His story is pure determination.
Born outside Copenhagen to an Israeli-Jewish father and Danish mother, Yaacov moved to Israel by HIMSELF at 13 to live with his grandparents on Kibbutz HaOgen and chase the game.
He rose through Israeli youth ranks, earned All-Tournament honors with the national team, played for ASVEL in the EuroLeague, contributed to an Israeli Cup and a EuroCup title, and kept believing.
Now heโs in Cleveland, with Israeli executive Liron Fanan already leading the Charge. Whether he sticks on a two-way deal or develops in the G League, this is a real milestone โ another Israeli name on an NBA roster and another reminder that talent, heart, and hard work from the Holy Land travel far.
Israeli basketball keeps rising. And right now, Noam Yaacov is one of its brightest lights.
Mazal tov!

Jewish Canadian hockey history is being made! ๐โก๏ธ๐
Ahead of Tuesdayโs official season opener, the Edmonton Oilers have three Jewish Canadian NHL players on their roster: Zach Hyman and Jake Walman, both from Toronto, and Devon Levi, from Montreal.
Itโs the first time three Jewish Canadian NHL players have been on the same NHL team.
Three players. One team. One historic milestone.
And for the next generation of Jewish Canadian hockey players, seeing three Jewish Canadians at the NHL level together is an inspiring reminder of whatโs possible.
Best of luck this upcoming season, Zach, Jake and Devon! ๐
