📌 DotComp: Brace yourselves; it could get worse at Michigan State before it gets better
My latest state of the program column from Pasadena:

Pat Fitzgerald postgame press conference
"I've never seen so many injuries"

ANALYSIS: How No. 9 UCLA handled Michigan State, 28-10 & what’s next at QB

I've had my fingers crossed for Ben Roberts all year, to finally have a healthy season.
Sick, sad feeling to see him helped off the field. Left leg injury.
He was having an All-Big Ten season, maybe borderline All-American.
On top of that, he is the spiritual leader of this team.
Very sad feeling for Michigan State right now.
Marvis Parrish with nice leg drive to pick up third and three. And he is on the turf in pain, possible injury.
Michigan State ready to be down to QB3 and RB4. (to go with CB3 and CB3 on defense, and others).
QB3 has talent, though. Young talent.
UCLA wearing their old throwback powder blue colors. As they should.
Not sure if they call it powder blue. But it's terrific. That's the way their uniforms are supposed to look.
📌 Michigan State coach Tom Izzo on Jeremy Fears' ankle: 'I don't see it being a problem'

The upper deck jut above it. Sitting in that first-row corner seat felt like being over the field in a low-flying hot air balloon.

I did have a Mark Fidrych shirt, though. As a second grader. I’m sure it was an unlicensed knockoff iron-on. But it was a prized possession.
Based on the scoreboard and @baseball_ref, this was Friday, May 27, 1977. The crowd of 44,207 was attracted by @tigers 1976 rookie of the year Mark Fidrych making his season debut after a spring-training knee injury. He went the distance in a 2-1 loss to the expansion @Mariners.
Dude has a Converse shirt on. But no team gear in sight. That’s the way it was. Team gear was rare to find in stores and gold to have in your possession.
📌 REACTION: Michigan State's Tom Izzo: 'Our offense got awfully stagnant'

Tom Izzo: “We won’t have to worry about my guys thinking they’re better than they are. But practices have been great. I see no entitlement from anybody. But we got punched in the mouth and that will be good for us.
“This is the best game we could have played in the country. We couldn’t have played a better team, a better-coached team, a better offense that they run. This is the best exhibition game that we could have played.”
Tom Izzo jumped off the bench at 16:08 to shut down a bad-word chant that The Izzone was chanting at UConn head coach Dan Hurley.
They complied.
