Having spent a summer in (probably) '71 giving the "5 minutes!" call to performers there, I returned to @hippodromeGY for their first show after lockdown and it was truly fantastic!
A massive thank you to Lyn Collier and her friends and neighbours who filled our van with children’s books for Christmas. This is going to make a lot of children very happy! @_Dr_MK
We were able to give away almost 3000 children’s books at the Spirit of Christmas events in Selby and Doncaster at the weekend thanks to the incredible generosity of people who have donated books since the flood
We’ve been told that we’ll be out of our premises until Christmas. It’s heartbreaking to have to dispose of books that people have donated to us and that our staff and volunteers have carefully sorted uk.gofundme.com/f/reread-flo…
Thank you for the donated books Sue Mongredien @LDiamondAuthor - these will make some children very happy when we pass them on at our Christmas giveaways
One of our missions is to save books from landfill - if you’ve ever dropped a book in the bath, you’ll know how we felt as the river rushed in. Except it was 100,000 books in our case uk.gofundme.com/f/reread-flo…
Usually our staff and volunteers work away on their own saving and distributing books so it has been heartwarming to get support from bookworms, authors and everyone else who has donated and helped us out this week gofundme.com/f/reread-flood
We lost around 100,000 books so would really appreciate donations of second hand or new books - particularly children’s books, as Christmas is the busiest time of year for our giveaways
You can see some of our staff being interviewed about our situation on Channel 5 news at 5pm today. If you want to help, you can donate at gofundme.com/f/reread-flood
