#IPCC is in Bangkok this week for its 64th Plenary. We’re 2.5 years into our 7th cycle & focus is on a review of IPCC’s Principles & Procedures which underpin our ability to deliver comprehensive, neutral, objective, transparent, inclusive, & scientifically robust assessments.
IPCC is at the @UniofReading this week for two Workshops - Engaging Diverse Knowledge Systems & Methods of Assessment. We are especially grateful to our hosts @energygovuk, @MetOffice & the @UniofReading for their hospitality & championing IPCC scientific work.
We kicked off two @IPCC_CH Workshops at the @UniofReading today.
For the next 3 days, some 90 experts will discuss Engaging Diverse Knowledge Systems & Methods of Assessment with the aim to produce guidance for #IPCC leadership and authors working on IPCC's seventh assessment.
Thought-provoking discussions at last night's public lecture ahead of our two Workshops at the @UniofReading! Dr Sarah Honour (@energygovuk), Rowan Sutton (@metoffice) and @ed_hawkins, joined me in a panel about the future of climate science, moderated by Prof. Liz Stephens.
Excellent meeting with Mari Sundli Tveit @stMari, CEO of the Research Council of Norway @forskningsradet, in Oslo yesterday. We discussed progress of the IPCC’s seventh assessment cycle as well as the collection and retention of climate data.
Great meeting the Norwegian Minister of Finance @jensstoltenberg in Oslo. We discussed @IPCC_CH's progress on our next assessment report, the implications of exceeding global warming of 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels and the role of bioenergy.
Excellent meeting with Norway's Climate and Environment Minister Andreas Bjelland Eriksen. We discussed the IPCC’s vital role in guiding global #climateaction & how trusted, policy-relevant science remains key to ambitious & inclusive solutions to address climate change.
It was a privilege to meet Monique Barbut, Minister of Ecological Transition, Biodiversity & Int’l Negotiations on Climate & Nature at the opening of IPCC's first Lead Author Meeting for the Seventh Assessment Report in Paris. We are grateful to France for hosting this meeting.
Honoured to open @IPCC_CH's first Lead Author Meeting for AR7 in Paris today. Congratulations to 600+ authors on their appointments—this marks the beginning of our scientific assessment. Thank you to France for generously hosting this historic meeting.

I am at the Overshoot Conference addressing exceedance of 1.5ºC warming hosted by @IIASAVienna in Austria.
My keynote address at the opening highlighted how @IPCC_CH will be approaching this topic and related themes covered at the conference in our next assessment.
It was a full house for my lecture @HelsinkiUni with a focus on what science is telling us about #ClimateChange and the tools available to reduce emissions. I also had the pleasure to meet with Uni’s Chancellor @KaarleHameri.
I had the honour to meet the Finnish President @AlexStubb in Helsinki this morning. We had a thoughtful exchange on the importance of international cooperation in tackling #climatechange & the work of @IPCC_CH.
