In my view, @MDPSecretariat is doing what a responsible opposition should by holding this government accountable and raising awareness of our worsening economic situation.
The growing USD pressure and fiscal challenges are the result of the poor economic management of this government and a lack of transparency. My greatest concern is that while a future government may inherit the damage, it is the people who will ultimately bear the burden.

President Nasheed earned the respect, admiration, and love of people across the Maldives. Some choose to label that support as a cult, but I believe it exists because Nasheed was able to articulate a vision for the country that inspired and united people from all walks of life.

Is anyone else having a really difficult time in dealing with BML regarding the foreign currency limit? I have been trying to solve my issue for more than six months with out any progress. Even my daughter’s student allowance is not being sorted out. Very frustrating

The MMA, the country’s central bank, purchasing real estate under the guise of developing a financial center is not only highly irregular but also a significant departure from the government's pledges to implement fiscal consolidation measures as recommended by the IMF. This measure is essentially monetarization in disguise. By increasing the money supply by MVR 14 billion, the US dollar exchange rate is likely to surge well over MVR 24/- consequently fueling inflation. The government must reconsider this approach and revert to fiscal consolidation to reduce the budget deficit.
