i love foursquare and have so much respect for the early team. startups are brutal
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

It's an amazing time to be building with ai except the part where every second I spend shipping and not trying to figure out the newest thing I feel like I am falling behind

Maybe it's the boomer in me but I really like having different channels in my agentic tools like grok bot and find single threads a mess for anything beyond a random one off

Pro rata mostly sucks as a founder. If your round is soft and new investors see early investors aren't taking their pro rata it's a really bad sign. If your round is hot you now have early investors that didn't help (besides sending a wire) aggressively defending their territory

People will have an agent they use for work, a different one for their personal life and then a third vindictive one to aim at opps

Not sure a company has ever made a bigger bet than Facebook did on the Metaverse and have it be so wrong and not kill the company. Wild these guys are in even stronger position now. Next level impressive.
