I’m currently looking into a T Mobile phone to mount in a fire truck (we need the ability to use Starlink in remote locations). And I thought ATT customer service was bad. 19 minutes until they told me I had to fill out a contact form and they would call me back.
So I was in the Kerrville,TX, post office earlier today. The clerks were super helpful and nice (I had a parcel shipment transaction that took about 90 seconds) but I swear everyone else in line had some weird unsolvable problem. One person came up and said she had some diabetes detection devices that had to be shipped back to the manufacturer. When the clerk asked if they had batteries she said “well, not battery batteries”. He went to the back and came back after a couple of minutes and asked if they really wanted them shipped via USPS since they already had FedEx return shipping labels on them. Lots of other mayhem was going on while I waited.
I get annoyed at USPS sometimes but a huge amount of trouble really isn’t their fault. At all.
This credit card discussion makes me think much of the world needs to listen to Dave Ramsey. I’ll keep earning my rewards.
Went with the wife to look at an KDS9C for me and came home with this micro 9 for the Mrs and the KD on order.

This is excellent news.
The Mrs went into the shop to get one of her cars yesterday and a huge tarantula ran behind the gas cans. They are basically harmless but damn they are creepy.
Since our dog Scotch passed we can walk Lola off leash on the property. Scotch would head for the next county once he got loose.
Lola will still chase deer but can’t get anywhere near them.
On 9/11 I was teaching a high school geometry class. An email told of the first impact so I turned the classroom TV onto CNN. When the next class came in we checked their homework and then saw the second impact. I told the kids the world as they knew it would never be the same again. I don’t think most of them understood that day but eventually they all learned. My wife was a FedEx pilot on a reserve layover in Indianapolis; she slept through it and called me shaken after she woke up and saw the news. It took her a few days to get home to Texas. I remember for months being hesitant to check the news when I got up for fear of another attack.
As hard as it is to watch the 9/11 footage, it’s necessary. And as I commented on another post, the horror of that day makes it easy to overlook the incredible success of the evacuation of the towers. I expected the death toll to number well over 25,000 people. It’s s tribute to the first responders and people like Rick Rescorla who made the difference. Bravo Zulu.
So we have an impeding road closure to rebuild an old bridge on a relatively busy county road. The state DOT set up a meeting for emergency agencies and we agreed to let other affected entities know. When I call the local post office I get a “wait while direct your call” message and then three minutes on hold until it hangs me up (tried twice). I mean, a lot of people already despise the USPS and I feel like they don’t even try to make it any better. @USPS
Rescue tonight - heat stroke patient about ten miles off road - two tracks only passable with 4WD, not ambulance accessible. Reached him with a rescue truck and UTV’s. Hoisted out via Starlife helicopter after stabilizing the patient.
Why isn’t this bigger news?

8 AM, Whirlpool dryer (4 or 5 years old) timer wouldn’t work - even though we had just used it yesterday. I found the part number and ordered it on Amazon at 8:38 AM. Just delivered at 7:11 PM. 5 minute install and dryer is good to go. Under 12 hours. Incredible.
Fresh honey from one of our hives. You never know where life will take you - my wife flew jets all over the world for 34 years and now it’s honey, farm eggs and sourdough everything.
OK, so a Texas Tech professor who taught supply chain logistics was arrested for running a fentanyl supply ring. Won’t this guy automatically be like Caretaker in The Longest Yard once he gets to the big house?

I had to make about 30 mile trip this morning and took the truck - my two daily drivers are the truck (23 F150) and a 2017 GT350. The truck actually gets slightly better mileage than the car and once the cost of premium fuel and tires is figured in it’s substantially cheaper to drive the truck. Not near as much fun, though.
