Last week, Governor Whitmer announced the winners of the 2026 Governor's Awards for Historic Preservation, which members from District 9 were winners of. Congratulations to the group effort of  411 Piquette, LLC; Kraemer Design Group; PCI Dailey Contracting; Grunwell – Cashero; and Graham Architectural Products for their efforts in rehabilitating the Studebaker Service building into a much needed 160+ apartment building. A remarkable example of how preservation and progress can work hand-in-hand to help our community.

Supporting new moms is how we support babies. I was grateful to be part of the Rx Kids Detroit Baby Love event to uplift this life-changing program for our city.

The Rx Kids program, which has helped thousands of families across the state, is coming to Detroit! The health of a city starts with the health of our kids. This program will give our parents and babies the resources they need right from the start.

This is not the America we want for our kids. Elected officials around the country need to denounce the shocking tragedies taking place in Minnesota and do everything in our power to prevent it from happening again. Let’s stand together.

The CHASS Street Medicine Team is doing phenomenal work across Detroit, meeting unhoused patients where they are and providing them with medical care. I had the opportunity to join Dr. Bryce and his team yesterday morning during their mobile visits.
