Last night, Hackney Empire welcomed over 1,000 young people, families, and friends from all over London united for London’s No.1 urban youth showcase, "Boroughs United." A wonderful event that brought young people together to stand against knife crime and celebrate talent, culture, and community. Always a joy to attend this London’s loudest, liveliest talent takeover. This annual event proves there is another way—a way built on creativity, unity, and respect. I was on my feet most of the evening, listening to powerful singers, hearing rappers shell out, and watching show-stopping dance crews. Music saves lives because it gives people a space to belong, a way to be heard, and a reminder that they matter. My message to our young people: You are valued, you are powerful, and your life is worth protecting. Please choose peace over violence, and together, let’s build communities where every young person can grow and thrive.
