if you're building a Trillion $ company, move to SF
if you're building a multi-B $ company, move anywhere else
AI will be won by domain experts, not just ML researchers
domain experts don't live in the Marina or Hayes Valley, they live in Denver and Austin

Everyone's talking about the blue wave.
Perhaps, the bigger story is AI infrastructure.
About 41 local ballot measures on data centers went up across 10 states on Tuesday, and every one with results so far except one went against them, usually 70 to 80% against, in red and blue towns alike. NBC's exit poll found 56% of voters called AI and data centers a major factor in their vote for Congress.
Power bills, water and land are now kitchen-table issues, and that pushed votes blue. America is building the AI future, and Americans don't want it in their backyard.
Sadly, That makes Xi and China the big winners.
It creates opportunity for countries who are US allies (like Israel and UAE) who can scale compute and AI.
And it’s bullish for @elonmusk and @SpaceX who already have capacity.

The 2026 American Dynamism 50 is here: our annual list of 50 companies, from within the a16z portfolio and beyond, building for America's future.
This year's theme is Production is Deterrence. "America's ability to prevent conflict depends on what it can build, how fast it can deliver, and how long it can keep going."
A new generation of defense companies is moving from prototypes to full-scale production, and the industrial base has to keep pace. This year's list is organized around three pillars:
1. Systems: the drones, ships, missiles, aircraft, and spacecraft that deter conflict.
2. Factories: the plants, tools, and software that build them.
3. Inputs: the materials and power they're made of and run on.
Get all three right, and the impact reaches well beyond defense, to skilled jobs, revitalized communities, and the supply chains behind energy, housing, and everyday goods.

ANTHROPIC BUILDS BIOLOGY LAB TO PUSH AI INTO DRUG DEVELOPMENT
Anthropic has quietly established a Bay Area wet lab, moving its life-sciences ambitions beyond computer simulations and into physical biological experiments.
The company wants Claude to direct laboratory robots with limited human intervention, potentially accelerating research into rare and traditionally “undruggable” diseases.
Anthropic says it will focus on preclinical research rather than clinical trials, avoiding direct competition with pharmaceutical companies.

The numbers speak for themselves.
@SpaceX’s $100 billion investment will transform Louisiana as we know it— a better, more prosperous Louisiana is shaping up right in front of our eyes.
if we don’t build data centers, China still will
they already can “out energy” us until we get nuclear online, probably after still, which is the real intelligence constraint
why are some Americans (Gov. Hochul in NY) trying to handicap ourselves with moratoriums? 🫠
This discourse is hilarious.
I find myself feeling bad for Californians.
If passed, the Austin/Denver boom will go parabolic.

Why not a non recourse loan for pledged stock as collateral for this situation?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Non-recourse loans against private company stock exist but require mature companies with reliable income and are typically limited to low loan-to-value ratios (15-45%), making them infeasible for large amounts owed by young founders of unprofitable startups. ennessglobal.com/us/insights/bl… commercetrustcompany.com/private-bankin…
America doing so well for so long
despite the perverse incentives of political donations
is actually pretty impressive

excited to participate in @Vendelux's $50M Series B, led by @tribecavp and alongside @FirstMarkCap & @Pelion_VP.
AI made digital outreach dirt cheap and everyone is exhausted by "AI SDRs"
Now, B2B spend has shifted to the one place AI can't touch: in-person
Vendelux is the intelligence layer for that $85B market
Congrats Alex, Stefan, and the team. Looking forward to the journey ahead with you and alongside great co-investors @LeooftheMoon & @amishjani!
